I've discovered an issue with the 3 target bank on the lower playfield on my recently acquired Black Hole. The target bank doesn't reset. I checked the switches, and the targets do score points and show up in the switch test, the solenoid is getting power, and fires when "jumped" with alligator clips. So, if the solenoid is good, and the switches work, what would the likely culprit be?

Resets of Drop Targets

Did not see if it resets when you start a new game. My Williams Pokerino would always reset on a new game (fired all without a test ??) but would not acknowledge the switches were all down. Adjusted all the sensors to correct that.

My Cheetah would not physically reset the 5 target drop bank; and I had to physically adjust the reset bar on that drop bank. Not sure if either of those are your problem.

Does it reset when you start a new game? Also, are you using the drop targets or your fingers to activate the switch? My GnR switches would register with fingers, but was out of adjustment enough where the drop targets was not making enough contact during the game. If not this, it is probably a transistor on the driver board.

Probably the transistor that drives that coil then...... Did you try to ground the transistor tab for the said coil?

I haven't gotten to that yet.... I'll have to see if I can find a schematic and figure out where it is. The target bank doesn't ever reset (not at the start of or during a game).

EDIT: I found it on this page: http://stevekulpa.net/pinball/bh_sl.htm It's Q64, a 2N3055 transistor. Forgive my ignorance, but where would I touch alligator clips to that to fire the coil?

I looked at my HH manual... Q64 is one of those big transistors. You can't ground the tab on one of those. You gonna have to ceheck it with a Dmm....
