A conjoined twin set of Crown candy cabs, and a neglected PC-10. They will have new life as time permits. :)

Check out the conduit connecting this mess:

Separation surgery complete!

Now the PC-10 (the rest of the glass is on a nearby table)

Inside....with too many extra power supply bricks!

Is that a Atari power brick in there? Does it have the power cord with the little plastic plate? I need the stupid little plastic plate and cord grommet to properly install a cord on my new Tempest. :p

I don't think so, but I'll see next time I'm out there. I should be able to get the PC-10 turned around pretty quick though! I plugged it, fired it up without boards, and the monitor started smoking :004_ssad: Luckily I have a few extra monitors and a complete harness since this one has one half with a destroyed edge connector (got killed by all of those power supplies).

Now the question becomes keep it a PC-10......or convert it to Punchout!

I'd say keep it a PC 10 but then again I'm influenced by the fact that if you were near me I'd probably buy it.

Sure looks like an Atari power brick to me too.

Nope, not Atari. There was an extra Nintendo brick and a Midway brick in there.

So this PC-10 is going to just piss me off it seems. The wiring harness inside was for a Vs system. No big deal, because I had a correct harness.....so I thought. Turns out I have a Punchout harness, so it is missing the cable that goes from the CP to the small connector on the board. Dammit!

The monitor in the cab started smoking when I fired it up, so I yanked it out and put two more in. I threw in the Punchout! harness, power supply, and board, and fired it up. Nothing but white screens. I know at least one of my boardsets works, but the PC-10 and both Punchouts gave the same result. Something is wrong here. I'm not sure I even want to mess with this stupid thing.

While I was out there, I messed with my candy cabs. Turns out the main one had no earth ground going to the switcher, so I rectified that. I need to get a full harness connected up in the second cab and test out the stock power supply in there.

I also got an extra 27" dual rez Nanao monitor in the buy, so I thought I would put that in my empty OK Baby candy cab....but it would mount up! I have no idea how the hell a monitor goes into that goofy cab. It must be missing some part of the hardware.

I realized after testing ALL of my spare Ninty monitors and them not working that I probably had a bad PSU in the cab. As it turns out, I have THREE bad PSUs! I had a switcher with the right connectors scabbed onto it though, and that let me test it all out. My monitors were in upside down, but they work fine. The PC10 board is not working (maybe it has to have carts in to do anything......). Two Punchouts give garbage only, and the third hangs at the attract screen

Anybody hungry for a project? :D

I need to get a move on cleaning up and rewiring these candy cabs. I also need to fab a 2 player CP insert to go on each one. The ones on there right now are made of plexi instead of metal, so that makes it easier. I'll probably flip one monitor vertical while I'm at it. I think I have enough horizontal cabs around here, and my shmups boards need a new home. I think I'll go for black and green paint job as well on one of them.

Well, the candys are wired up much better now. No more monitor running straight to the (unfused and ungrounded) switcher. Line filter, fuse and iso trans all installed now. The second one has some funky Korean power supply in it, but I can't seem to figure it out. The monitor goes to an iso on it, so I left it and wired in a switcher for the harness power, along with a power switch on the rear panel.

Cab two has the speakers wired up now, but I need to connect up the control panel. Coin mechs are going to be more of a challenge. I may have some from an old style Ninty coin door that will fit. Otherwise it's a filler panel and coin button........actually, that may be a better idea anyway.

The dual rez monitor I got at the same time also works! I need to make a proper harness for it, and figure out how to mount it into my OK Baby candy cab (which is missing the correct mounting frame).

So.....

Can you wire up the ground connecton to the frame and power it up now without it popping breakers?

;)

I'm still looking for a candy cab (although I'm stuck overseas for probably about another week at least). Did you have plans to keep both?

The other Crown with it's torn up vinyl removed and primer sprayed on.....

And just for the hell of it, here's another candy cab sitting across from those two (a Weche OK Baby in need of a monitor mounting frame)

After a trip to Lowes this morning, and a little belt sanding time, I now have new CP inserts. Double layers of plexi are pretty easy to replace....much better than the metal CP inserts on my Super Neo cabs! Now I just need to figure out my stick/ button layout and drill them.
