Picked myself up a crusin usa. It's a stand up and the kids love it. And the WG 5108 med rez monitor works good too. However I want to make sure it keeps running as they are a little expensive. Besides a Cap Kit what do you recommend.
Someone mentioned at one time there were some mandatory upgrades for this particular series.

Also is there anything else that can plug.into this cab? Crusin world? Exotic? Anything game, anyone recommends?

Also the board will not hold the setting I put into it. It has a BR2325 battery. Any substitutes or just another BR?

And yes I know its a sin to post about a new purchase and not put pics. But I'm at work and will post them tonight. Thanks

Wow, I'm the only one with a stand up Crusin? Sweet it must be ultra rare then.....lol

The stand up Cruisin' cabinet is real ugly IMHO. It's definitely a lot less common than the sit down version, but also a lot less fun (and I don't really find the game to be a lot of fun anyway). I'm not sure if the stand up could be converted to World or Exotica, as I've only seen the original in a stand up cab. I'd imagine a Cruisin' Exotica board would probably still cost a pretty penny, as I still see it on location at A LOT of places. Personally, I would try and restore it into a different racer if possible. Maybe Final Lap or Outrun?

Well... seems there are at least TWO of us that like this game! I had a Cruis'n and was sorry I sold it. I replaced it recently with an Offroad Challenge. Same cabinet as Cruis'n World. You can put all three in your Cruis'n cab and they'll work. There's another game that will work in there...but it's slipping my mind at the moment. Great games, especially good for kids and parties. Have FUN!

I'm not crapping on his pickup, any pickup is a great pickup if it's something you wanted at a price you wanted to pay. I'm just expressing my opinion that I don't feel Cruisin USA is a particularly fun game, at least when compared to other, similar games, and that if I had picked it up, I would probably try to convert it to something I find more enjoyable.

I do apologize if it came off that way, but I wasn't criticizing the pickup or anything of the sort.

Well I understand, it's either a love or hate relationship with racers. There are better ones out there. I like the variety of tracks and the kids like that as well. I also like Virtua Racer, but there isn't one around here to buy. lol But that can be a high maintenance cab. And it's really truly fun with two people.

But the kids and myself like this Crusin. Not a grail mind you, but it's fun. So a World or Exotica should work with this as well. no harness changes or anything? I might see if I can't find a World, and I agree with the others Exotica might be too pricey right now.

Anyway, here are some pics. Sorry if the quality sucks, the lighting was bad.

But I thought the side art was in pretty good shape. Exepct for the scrape in the middle, other side is actually better looking. Monitor looks good also.
Insides needed a good vacuum though.

The only thing I'd be concerned about with switching out to Cruisin World or Exotica is just verifying that the boards for the sit down are the same as for the stand up, as I don't ever recall seeing Cruisin' World or Exotica in a stand up cabinet.

There will be one in Nebraska here in a few weeks, just not for sale though :D

The art looks good, and that scratch is not on the cab, it was part of the artwork representing a scratch on the car. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

All that set aside, I love that series of driving games(look at my sig and you'll see I love driving games), nice score. If........that ever needs to move, please contact me first.

I like that way of thinking. Lol....

It's pretty fun. I'm jelious of your VR. That is so much fun to play with 2 player or more linked. I hope it's low maintenance for you. So you can get some enjoyment out of it.

There was this guy from Grand Island.... Gary Bladder I believe, had a sh*t ton of Juke Boxes and empty cabs and such. Anyways, tells me he has a working VR Sitdown Twin. Complete. So I'm all excited, I haul ass down there and find out, His "Working VR" is missing one monitor and the PCB boards were just stacked at the bottom of the cab, with no protection. And the entire BENCH was missing. I was a little more than Pissed off.

However, I did get a sit down Asteroids with a working Vector. I just had to buy the PCB. So I guess that was something. Still I didn't appreciate the misrepresentation though....

Yea, you got to be careful with some of the people. If you don't ask specifics, they tend to not offer any helpful information. Not everyone, but some are like that. Thankfully everyone I have done or currently doing business with, have been great people.

Sadly the VR is a single upright with the bench seat, no side by side action with that :( But the guy I'm dealing with has been so cool, he repaired the force feedback that didn't work, and was giving all kinds of information of what to watch out for, and what could be used for replacements if needed. I couldn't ask for anything more from that stand up guy, people like him make this hobby enjoyable.

If you're ever in the area, swing on by and take a few laps. Between that, the Final Lap 2, & the Championship Sprint, there's plenty of racing to be had.

As far as Gary goes, I've never dealt with him, so I'm neutral with any opinions. I saw those same adds he kept posting, but never jumped on anything myself. Other things kept popping up around here, or found elsewhere before checking with him. I know others have their own opinions, some good, some bad. That After Burner he had up for a while is actually sitting in my house waiting for another guy to come pick it up. It's made it's journey from Nebraska, to Missouri, back to Nebraska, and will be moving onward to another state, lol. You have to laugh at the small world involved with video games.

It's not the cool Complete full motion VR racing cab is it? That would be kick ass to own...

Well, I'm glad others had better dealings with him. But after his lousy supposed "Working and complete" VR cab. I don't think I will deal with him again.

He had like 40 Juke Boxes old style 45's and 78's and I inquired about buying one and he wanted like 700 to 800 bucks. And most didn't' work. I just thought that seemed high for something he had 40 of and Needed to get rid of. Oh well.

I also picked up a Taito sit down Space Invaders for 35 bucks from him at that same visit as I wasn't leaving without something lol.... But it's board needs to be worked on as only 4 of the 8 sounds work.

Anyways, you have a little bit more selection up there. Don't get much through North Platte though....

Here's the VR I'm getting from a fellow KLOVer, a great guy to deal with:

Bitchen.....find another one and you could hook two up. :D

There are a lot of people that don't like VR. But I have a lot of fond memories of that game. I wish it had a few more tracks though. Maybe a track expansion pack....lol

Another one I like is Rush 2049. But those are still expensive. Fun though....

I have dual sitdown Crusin USA. I also have the U5000 monitors in it, as you do. I am currently update my video cards. There is the cap kit along with three other kits.
S04E0000-000F POWER SUPPLY UPDATE
S05F0000-000F VERT SWEEP UPGRADE
S01J0000-000F H.O.T. Horizontal Output Transistor Update Blitz

You have to call the get the first kit, they do not show it online. It will run you about $85 for all three.

Listed here is alot of info for your monitors. Enjoy

I read some place that you can change the chips on your PCB board to change the game from USA to WORLD or EXCIOTA. Not sure how correct that is.

I'm pretty sure the boards from World will work. The only difference is that the stand up doesn't have a brake pedal. I don't think the games require one though.

Nice score, wish I had a Cruisn' USA. Sadly I have to make due with my California Speed and Sega Super GT.
