My neighbor is an A/V guy for chevron and is an avid gamer, all his consoles are modded and he's been trying to get me on the dark side Well i made the leap.He gave me the xbox for christmas and dropped it of for the mod,i paid the $200.00 for the mod,he loaded the system up with hundreds of games.Any time a new game comes out all i have to do is take a flash drive to him,he puts the game on it and i put it in the xbox, done.I can also rent games at redbox for $2.00 and save them to the HD and own them, its a beast and my son loves it,in fact hes playing bullett storm behind me as im typing.

Just be careful If you take it online because MS can ban the console for online play, and I'm not sure but I think they can even brick the console and render it unplayable.

Modded Xbox

They are pretty cool, I have two of them. I have one that is custom painted and the guy that did mine can add leds to the game ports and under the xbox and even make the center logo light up. Pretty cool what all you can do to these. If interested I can pm you the website and info of the guy who did mine, he can do custom painting and pretty much anything you want done to it in addition to modding it.

not this one,i can go online with it and its invisible to MS.It was that way but with the advancements of mods you now can.

Glad you're enjoying it, but $200 sounds like a lot for the mod. You can buy a used modded console for that price.

To maintain your stealth you need very precisely burned XGD3 discs and even then it's only a guess as to whether or not MS really knows. The tend to ban in periodic waves.

Yeah, I've been a big X-box fan for a decade, but have never seen the appeal to modding them. I've already got more games than I have time to play, and modding for online purposes used to piss me off like nobody's business when it first started with Halo 2.

It can not be seen by MS,yet. But when they can theyll come up with another mod to fix it.I spent $60.00+ a game before, now there free. The ones on CL for less do not have the latest hardware/software that this one does.As for piracy,i have an estensive collection of games that i have paid for over the years so i dont feel too bad.

If your son walked into a store, picked up a game off the shelf and walked out without paying for it, would you be okay with that?

+1

I think he's teaching his son to do it the other way ... be anonymous and online.

BottleJ - I'm curious what industry you work in and what kind of theft and piracy hits home to that? Maybe think about it another way.

If you're connected to the Internet then there's no such thing as being invisible.
If you connect to their servers, then they can see you. Please don't be fooled by anyone saying anything different.

Just looking out for you... That is all.

Most of the bans are due to people not properly burning their XGD3 discs, running files MS knows it doesn't offer (like RGH stuff) or playing new games before release date.

Just be careful is all i'm saying...

Of course not,c'mon.
Over the years i have spent thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars to nintendo, microsoft and sony.We are on a single income so my son gets no allowance which means he gets no new games, this is the only way we can afford them,it was his "big" present.

Whatever,we love it and will be adding a two terabyte HD(it has a one terabyte now) so we can add a few hundred more games.

For the record, I don't think it's wrong to pirate shit for your own use for free.. especially if it's stuff you'd never spend money on anyhow or if it's more of as hobby. Although anyone who pirates things and really gets a ton of use out of them should think about supporting what they enjoy or it'll go away sooner or later.

Anyhow it's straight out wrong to pay some thief who makes money off suckers paying for this stuff.

It's like paying some guy to go into a store and steal something for you. There's no other way to look at it. That guy you brought it from should be fined or arrested or something.

eh, this sounds a little harsh, I don't have anything against you but I think the guy you brought it from is a scum bag. I've pirated tons of games in my past when I couldn't afford shit and later to play cool Japanese stuff I couldn't get other how but Id never make a dime on it, I've always thought that was wrong. And I don't pirate games anymore because so much of it's crap, I can afford to buy what I really want to play.

Again, I'm not judging you, just the guy who took your money for his criminal acts. It's wrong. And maybe you want to think twice about supporting such acts. But who am I to say *shrug*

Yeah, and over the years you've spent thousands and thousands of dollars on groceries, but it doesn't make it right to cart off a full load of groceries without paying for them, right?

I can see downloading old, out of print, hard to find stuff you want to try out, but taking games that are relatively new releases and readily available? I'd rather go the gamefly route.

Any who, I've said my say and I'll leave it alone now.
