Got my Killer Instinct CF HDD Kit Today from Thekillerinstinctproject.com
I've known about http://www.thekillerinstinctproject.com/ for a long time now being a huge KI fan when i was younger. I've always recommended people get there kits from Scott there (even though i had never ordered one). My KI board stopped working a few years ago and i lost interest in collecting and the hobby.
I contacted Scott at http://www.thekillerinstinctproject.com/ around February and he got me in contact with Chad @ Arcadecup.com (ArcadecupCom here on the forums) and got my board repaired (Thanks again Chad!).
My Original Seagate PIO-0 drive was still working but I wanted to show my thanks to Scott and upgrade my drive at the same time. I ordered Tuesday and it arrived today Friday (talk about fast shipping). He kept in contact prior to it arriving and once it got here I was absolutely amazed by the packaging.
Inside the box i found wrapped in anti-static bubble wrap a plastic egg carton like box where inside was a anti-static zip top bag and my CF drive and boot prom (twist tied to an anti static foam pad). The clear plastic egg carton box fit my original PIO-0 drive perfectly and that is now safely stored (wonder if he planned that).
I did have an issue when I plugged it in tho and within 1 e-mail i had the issue fixed. (either the adapter or the cf card wasn't seated completely or the master/slave jumper wasn't making good contact). Scott offered to replace it if I wanted but I see no reason to do that.
End result, my game boots faster now, seems smoother between rounds, and also an annoying white flash on rooftop levels is now gone. Scott told me that the change wouldn't really be noticeable in game but definitely in the test menu during hard drive test. I think it improved the game all around but that's just me lol.
I highly recommend http://www.thekillerinstinctproject.com/ or http://www.revisionx.com and http://www.arcadecup.com for your Killer Instinct needs.
Also: I like the idea of leaving the factory fan hooked up to cool the main CPU (i think this was the original reasoning for it anyways and not to cool the drive).
