Got My Grail! Is it a 1982 Atari Vector HUO? You be the judge!

Thats a good question, I'll look. Being that all Black Widows were converted Gravitar cabinets. (You can see the Gravitar art under the BW side art) I'm not sure what will match and what won't.

Anybody have more info on how that was done?

I think new boards replaced the original Gravitar boards, but it was my
understanding that the BW boards were just leftover Gravitar Boards
with BW Sticker over the top to disguise it.

That is a thing of beauty! Now go clean the dust off of that 6100 and harden it with one of the Low Voltage upgrades before playing any more games. :D

HUO don't mean bupkiss. The actual condition of the machine is all that matters. End of discussion.

Now that that is settled, Holy Cow, that Black Widow is gorgeous. Don't touch a thing on it, even if it has some imperfection. Preserve that machine as it stands.

Edit: VJ makes a good point. A LV2000 is a good thing for long term reliability.

With the number of plays and no docs to support it, I'd say it's not HUO. That said, that thing is in outstanding condition. I wish I had a single original game in that condition! Honestly, I'm surprised it got 20k plays, that's a lot considering the condition. Must have been a very busy location, probably didn't get moved many times. I have really crappy condition games with similar number of plays.

Black widow can be a quarter eater. It's extremely addicting. None of my games even come close to the condition of this game. It's what I aspire to recondition all my games too!

way nicer than the one I sold.

HUO I doubt. Minty Fresh Yes.

20 thousand games is a lot for one family. I have owned a POTC pinball for 3 years and only put 250 in twenty years I am guessing it'll have 5000 games on it.

Man, that is a very good looking Black Widow. I love the game and I love the cab. I'm jealous. ;) No, I mean of course, congratulations with this one.

I got a chance to play the game earlier this year and since that moment it is no. 1 on my most wanted list. But hey, I'm living in Europe, so no chance to grab one someday.

I would say it's probably not home use only. You've got to remember that back in the day, the Vector games proved to be pretty hard for operators to keep functioning. Something probably started acting up after about 3 or 4 months in the wild, and it sat in a warehouse for a while.

Yes, this is just another example that HUO doesn't really mean anything. HUO in a 90 year old woman's house that never played it is one thing; HUO in the flooded basement of a guy with 10 kids who like french fries and lots of ketchup is another thing.

Location operated in an ice skating rink and the kids kicked the shit out of the cabinet with the blades is one thing, location operated right next to the front desk in an arcade in the rich part of town is another thing. Etc.

HUO does mean something if it's true. The only reason it means nothing is because 99% of claimed HUO games are not. Those that are usually look like this BW but have fewer coin trips.
