I "won" a Gorf on eBay on Sunday. I made arrangements to make the 100 mile one way drive to pick it up yesterday. I had been watching CL and there was a double monitor Run and Gun available on the way. Bad news, rain, and lots of it. I picked up the Gorf first and power was out at the seller's storage unit. Made me a little nervous not being able to make sure it worked, but since it was already paid for I tarped and loaded it up. On the way back home I stopped to check out the Run and Gun. That thing is massive! Turned it on, both monitors were working, one had very slight burn in. I figured it was worth bringing home for the monitors alone. I was barely able to get that 475 lb beast into my truck with two other guys. Got em home, luckily they were both dry. I put the Run and Gun in storage for the time being. Plugged the Gorf in and everything seems to be working great. Got a pretty good deal on the Gorf. I almost feel like the Run and Gun was a steal. My old lady informed me that these were my last ones, she's not too happy.

Anyway, I'm not too sure what to do about the Run and Gun. My original intentions were to rob the monitors out of it for other projects. After some research, I found out the cab was originally a Cyberball, it has two 19" monitors. The cabinet isn't in too bad of condition. After thinking about it for a while, this might make a pretty interesting MAME machine.

Any suggestions on what I should do with the two headed monster?

Years ago, I had a Cyberball that was converted to a 4 player X-MEN. You could always convert it to some type of 4 player machine.

Today was actually the first time I ever played Gorf. It's more fun than I thought it would be. A couple lights are burned out and it's still pretty dusty. Excuse the messy garage, this will be getting moved into the basement soon. Here's some pics:

Thanks.

Didn't take any of my own pics of the Run and Gun, but here's the CL pic:

Very Nice Game and congrats! You can get a reproduction control panel from Rich at This Old Game and make that area look alot better, I replaced mine and it made a huge difference on my Gorf!

thats a pic of a cyberball converted to run and gun. Dedicated run and gun should have 2 25" monitors.

As for what to do with it, since it jamma, you can do a few things. I have seen people run dual jamma setups in the cabinet and have it play 2 different games.

Looks like he's out of stock. I think I can hang with the one I have for now. There is only a few letters worn off on the left side. Might be something to consider down the road.

Get a couple of 6-JAMMA multi-switches and use the two monitors in vertical and horizontal configuration, then you could load it up with 12 games, half in each orientation.

Now there is an idea! Maybe doing a vertical multi-JAMMA on one side and a horizontal multi-JAMMA on the other. This is in storage, or I'd check myself, but does anyone know if one of the monitors would fit in the cab vertically?

make new 1 player cp's, run one pcb and have the ultimate fighter OR make it a 4 player MAME cab

Thought about running MK1 & 2 on one side and MK3 & 4 on the other. Don't know though, my friend picked up an MK1 that was in a smaller cab and only had a 19" monitor, the CP is a little crowded with two people. I'm definitely leaning towards multiple games in this cab though.

that's actually a good idea. that way there'll never be a jamma game you cant play. congrats on the pickups! is the gorf from bob in loveland? i remember him having one for sale.

The Gorf was from a Mike in the Denver area, not sure if he was a collector. He said he didn't play it much. Also this was the first arcade related item he sold on eBay.

cyberball can come with either 2 wells k7000 slim mount monitors or 2 sanyo monitors.

The monitors fit inside the cabinet with almost zero extra space. I think it could be possible to rotate 1 monitor, but pretty sure your going to have to do some wood work to get mounting points for the frame.

the real question is why do it. if your that hard up for space, getting an oversized 2 monitor cabinet is not that good of a call. I think a better choice would be to wire it up as duel jamma. You could also wire it up to share video and make them play as player 3 and 4 for 4 player games.

I'm not hard up for space yet. My original intentions for this machine were to scavenge the monitors. But once I got it home, I thought it could be put to a better use. But as is (with Run & Gun installed) I would never use it, I hate sports games. I do like the idea of keeping this a 4 player game, but I also like the idea of having hundreds of games on it as well. However, with the other projects I have going on, it's going to be a while until this one's fate is decided. Just looking for some ideas.
