Got my first EM, heres some pics, and a question...

Got this shopped 1972 Olympic Hockey over the weekend. Weve been wanting an EM and I dig the hockey theme. Playfield has been cleaned and waxed, new rubbers, all lights and switches work, backglass has been triple thicked. It has typical flaking, not bad, and only minor wear around the pop bumpers. Pretty cool how your not only trying to get a high score, but also trying to score goals, and the animated hockey rink in the backglass is pretty neat.

May be going back to the seller for a Hot Tip pin. It has a little more wear but he's shopping it out also, and giving me a decent price, if I want it...

Anyway just got one question. When I turn this on, it doesnt light up or anything until I start a game. I'm guessing this is normal for EM? Is there a way to have the lights come on upon powerup? I have the manual and can't find an answer.

Yes it is normal. When you switch the game on it will not light up until you actually start a game or press the left flipper button. All you have to do to light it is to simply push the left button, if that is unacceptable then adjust the hold relay to stay permanently on.

The hold relay is always held in, while the pin is running. You can either wedge it closed somehow, or jumper the switch(es) it activates.

I really don't see any point to this with an EM, there are no attract sounds etc...but whatever floats yer boat.

Earlier Williams and Bally pins just push the left flipper and the lights should come on. It should be in the manual if that particular game still used that option. Gottlieb games of this time frame had to start a game to light it up. If pushing the left flipper doesn't do it then something is out of adjustment. If you need any help with it let me know I come out.

Another thing I'm noticing is the flippers dont go up as high as they do on my Mr. & Mrs. Pac-Man Pinball. They seem to stop about parallell with the table and it feels like I have to force the ball to get action (and I also cant hold the ball with the flipper). Is this normal? Will new coils possibly take care of this?
