Got me an Asteroids Deluxe today.

You're not kidding, great game:

Phetishboy, is that black light white or blue? I have blue in mine, which is way too subtle, but when I put white in, it was really glary and hard to look at. Maybe I just need to clean the back of the mirror and the white would work fine.

I reflowed a bunch of cold solder on the deflection board. The red led went off but I still don't have anything on screen. The screen is turning on. I can see the neck and the screen glowing when the lights are out.

I have a thread in the monitor section to get this up and running. Join me over there to help me get it working!

Funny....over the weekend I bought a AD for $100 as well.....playing blind. I have not had a chance to look at it.

BTW.....please do not transport a game on the back that has a top profile angle like AD....if you hit the brakes that thing will take out your back window. I have seen it happen and read many times on this forum of it happening.

off story....back in college, 1984 I had an AD in my apartment....traded it for a non running 1969 VW Bug. Wish I still had that beetle....

Enjoy.

BLB. I hated the WBL. I thought it sucked the fattie. I don't care if the BLB isn't original, it looks better and I am not OCD about shit like that.

Been there done that. I have to work with what I've got....my Dad's truck. I think it cost me $175 to replace the window in his old S-10. Virtua Fighter took it out. That was about 11 years ago I'd say. I drive with a light foot on the gas and brake pedal now.

I love the art-work on the Asteroid deluxe games. Shame I passed up a AD and frogger in a awesome deal when I first started collecting. :banghead:

It's great that you found one cheap!

I just put down an old blanket and transport them on the side. I have found that most games have a forward angle enough to hit the window if loaded on the back.

I wish us both luck healing our ADs.

Garry

That AD is in really nice conditon . Getting that monitor to work shouldn't be too hard .

We'll get them up and running. I read the entire B/W vector faq, all 51 pages. Gonna rebuilt everything (monitor, A/R, etc) first and then troubleshoot some more. I have quite a few things to try after I rebuild.
