Maybe if I had a proper tri-pod I could have done better

I was working around the damn thing to get good video and it hampered my playing ability.

So much of this game is memorization. Even the ships that drop the bombs that make craters hit the same spot every time. I saw that one that makes a crater right next to the rock get you. You either have to get that ship before it shoots or really hang back so you have time to clear the crater and still shoot the boulder.

Hang back on the mines and jump early, you don't even need to touch the stick if you don't want... The highest part of your buggies arc should be directly over the mine so you have time to jump for the next one. There are a couple spots where they're far enough apart that you can gain a second or two for end bonuses, but not worth the effort while still learning the levels.

I can't remember what I had for dinner 2 days ago, but I totally remembered Moon Patrol when I played it after 20 years. Its crazy. Same with Xevious, which I think requires the same level of memorization. I'd probably suck at both if I just started learning them now!
