I am a newbie to this stuff..Was wanting to know can you take any tv tube and swap it with a arcade monitor permitted that the adapter has the same amount of pins as the one your wanting to swap it out with.. What is the rule of thumb when looking for the right tv tube to swap out or do you they have to be computer monitor with tubes in them.. I was wanting to see about swapping out some tubes that have bad screen burns, but wanting to make sure I am doing it right and getting the right tube for the monitors I am wanting to swap out with..IF you guy can help me out that would be great..

thanks in advance

Generally it's OK to try if you have a matching number of pins on the donor tube.

You will likely need to move the yoke from the original monitor over to the donor tube.

Purity rings stay with the tube. So reuse the TV's purity rings.

This has been discussed in detail on these forums. Here are the basics:

Yes, you can swap a TV tube for a video game monitor.
The TV tube and game have to match internally, you can't go by the look of the neck though. B&K has a rejuvenator set up chart that is pretty thorough and if you use it to compare tube numbers you can usually find a compatable tube.
Swapping yokes is the hardest part because it will require you to realign the colors. If possible find a TV tube with a compatable yoke to the monitor chassis, this will simplify the swap.

Do a search for swappping tubes. There are a few online tutorials that are linked to from previous threads.

One other thing to keep in mind when using the donor tube's original yoke is that it might have a different style connector on it. If it does, you're going to have to cut it off and replace it.
