Not a biggie, anything I should do with it besides play it?

Any neat info or cool stories anyone has of Phoenix?

I like Phoenix and have one. I think it's kind of underrated. It reminds me of the days I'd ride my bike to the 7-11 and play some Phoenix and Ms. Pac-Man.

What pisses me off about the game is it cheats like no other. Nothing like having the shield clearly on and have my ship blown up anyway.

I think you can "plug & play" switch the board out with Pleaides.

Phoenix is definitely underrated. I got one for dirt cheap and ended up loving it. Kind of quirky but fun for sure.

I have a cocktail of it..wish mine was an upright. Fun game..especially when trying to get the 200,000 pt bonus (shoot 3 birds flying away from you very quickly in succession...i think it's like 3 birds flying away in 1.5 or 2 seconds) ..I've done it once. It's easiest to try on the 2nd screen as you can rapid fire that wave.

Good luck..and good pickup :)

That 200000 point bonus is interesting. I got it for the first time playing against my roommate and didn't even notice til the end when my score was 200,000 points higher. A very significant amount in this game. Sweet sideart on this game too. Hate the woodgrain though.

Depending on the ROMset, there's also a suicide trick worth 100K a piece. Anyway, nice pick up! Looks like it's in good shape too.

the game is super fun, a cocktail would be pretty damn cool too!

Mine has a few little bugs here and there, it is in pretty good shape, it appears to have been upgraded too, the power supply looks pretty modern.

I got about 250 bucks in it all and all. im happy with it.

Phoenix... another great game by Centuri! It is a little known fact that Centuri was actually the coolest arcade manufacturer ever.

I do know that the cabinet artwork was made by a company called Willis. They were known for doing aftermarket/bootleg control panels overlays and other art.

Congrats on the pickup!

Great game and definitely underrated. My very first game was a Final Fight in a Phoenix cabinet. I was able to reconvert but the side art was not yet available at the time. It nagged at me bad so I finally got rid of it after a year or so of wishing I could find the art. Just after I sold the game, side art was released. D'oh! The shield timing is way off. Can't count the number of times I got blown up after pressing the shield button. Gameplay is somewhat unique. Having 8 big pooping birds on the screen can be a challenge. The spaceship screen is fun as well. Damn, I really wish I had a dedicated Phoenix. Its been a while.

very very very awesome game. I have a phoenix as well and its a really fun game. Hope you get a lot of enjoyment outta it!

Phoenix, U.S.A.

Awesome game.

Would be nice to have a dedicated one some day.

Cheers -kick-bass find!

YES! I got the 200,000 point bonus! only had the game for 2 days. it was my last life on my last credit!

it was exciting!

I was testing my spare board for my Phoenix yesterday and was really surprised to find that the music at the beginning of the game is completely different from the board I originally had in the machine. Has anyone heard of this????

The speed of the melody is controlled by a small ceramic cap at C13. It's supposed to be 50pF, but you'll find anything from 47 to 56pF in there (and that's probably acceptable). Smaller value = faster playback.
