I just saw the Vita thread or whatever - and it got me interested in a PSP - It looks like you can get them pretty cheap used and $129 new seems like a pretty good deal. The games I want to play are $10-$20 new and used to boot. Seems like a good value.

I don't really know shit about the system and haven't paid ANY attention to it, played one for like 5 minutes once.

Any serious caveats to this system?
Anybody have one and love it?
Anybody have one and never play it?
Is this system essentially dead now?
Are the graphics holding up?

Just trying to get a good feel for it.

Games I want to play:
Ultimate Ghosts & Goblins
GTA Vice City Stories
Mega Man Maverick Hunter
Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles
Metal Gear solid anything.

I honestly don't know why I just wrote this thing off for so long, it seems like a good deal at current prices.

Great system for emulators and homebrew, too. There's a good thread here with some info on that stuff if you want to take a look: http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=175938

I don't really play mine anymore, but I loved it when I did. I think it's too clunky for what it is, and while the screen is nice, it's very easy to scratch since there's no cover. But hey, for the price these days, who cares.

I always hated the little analog "nub" though :p

Not much comes out for it anymore. And very easy to scratch.

I do, and I love it. But, only because I can play PSone games on it as well.

Is this system essentially dead now?
Pretty much. There is a slow trickle of games

Are the graphics holding up?
They are pretty good, similar to early PS2.

Get one, a large memory stick, and look up on how to mod them. Makes it much better.

I've always thought about getting one,but price was always an issue for me. I may get one at some point, because I still want to play Mega Man Powered Up on there, plus every game on Mikey's list as well.

I'm with you - I'm still just "browsing" around - but I've seen working models go on ebay for $50-$75 in really good condition, so if the thing lasts a year or two, that's totally worth it. Then I've got a decent catalog of games that I literally knew nothing about or paid attention to until today - that's fun and discovery LOL, and most of the shit can be found for dirt cheap used.

Oh plus the fact that you can run booty PSX games - I'm buying one sometime soon.

This will be a nice break from Nintendo.
