The question I have is this:
I know it is possible to maybe put an LCD monitor in it, but where can I find complete information on how to git r done?

I don't have the LCD monitor or any parts yet. Before I commit to doing any kind of monitor conversion, I need to know all the ins and outs as much as possible.

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can lend.

PS - If I thought I could repair the existing monitor myself with cap kits and such, I probably would. I just don't want to take the chance of making a semi ok monitor and making it worse or non functional.

If you know of anyone near Richmond, VA that can fix a monitor....pass their info on to me.

Yeah those old nintendo monitors are no good. Where do you live....? I could use the chassis off the monitor.

:D

.

Inverter boards weren't supplied with every Sanyo monitor. Typically you'd find those inverter boards on PC10's or Punchout monitors. Games like DK, DKJR (and so on) have the colors inverted and didn't use/need an inverter.

And I second the motion about NO to the LCD.

Thanks for the input. I would only put the LCD in for me...if I ever sold it, I would sell it stock.

Well I guess that they just decided some we're going to have it.... and others didn't, since mine was hooked up in my DK Jr. it was just set to Bypass.

Well, it might be a fairly easy solution to a problem, but really I am not partial to LCD. If I were more of the adventurous type, I would order the cap kit and pray for the best. LOL.

I wish I knew someone in Richmond, VA who could do a recap.

Anyone?

Dang, and I just received it yesterday. ;)

Dude, that's dumb. Don't put an LCD in there, it's gonna look horrible. The Sanyo monitors are easy to work on and they are usually very easy to fix. It's almost always one of a few things wrong with them. Ugh.

Pretty sure he was referring to his KLOV card.

actually I never heard you could put an lcd in a DK..

but send it to chad at arcadeup as was posted... or a few others here..

you said your not comfortable doing it.. they will do a great job and cheaper than an LCD to boot...

read about discharging a monitor too tho... or see this link

Ok, you made your point and that's fine. Question is: Why do you feel the need to be rude about it? I'm a new arcade owner with no experience with them. I'm not a seasoned veteran of the arcade world. This kind of thing may be easy for you to jump on and fix, but I feel it is a bit unfair to jump on me for just asking a question and looking for some FRIENDLY advice.

I found someone willing to do the recap for me for a smaller fee and he is somewhat local to me. Problem solved.

The other point being (aside from just an awful idea) is that there would be much more involved on trying to get an LCD to run with that particular game. You would not only need an LCD, but at least two different signal converters, adapters, etc, etc. And even with all that...it's still not guaranteed to even work.
Best bet would be to have your original monitor repaired, which sounds like the way you are going. And the Sanyo's are a beautiful monitor once repaired and will last you a long time. I guarantee an LCD would die ten time over a 20EZ.
