Got a another pinball last night, Mars God Of War! How do I fix it?

Hey Guys,

Got my second pinball last night and I wasn't planning on getting it at all but it was WAY too good of a deal to pass up. However I have one question!

The bottom right flipper isn't working, what is the best way of going about to figure out what the issue is?

Other than that it everything works great and its very very clean! I'll post pictures this evening.

Thanks

Follow Al's advice.

Generally flipper issues break down into two categories: Mechanical or Electrical.

Figure out which one it is and then keep narrowing it down.

gottlieb fuses dang near everything on the playfields. there's a zillion fuse holders, with the game off, put each fuse and check it (one at a time) with a DMM set to continuity. I'm betting it's that simple.

also check the EOS switch for a broken wire. this is common too.

make sure you have the ground mods done. they only take a few minutes to do, and will really save you down the road from bad things...

Clay hit the big things, and really I'll only add one thing to his list.

That two piece back-glass!!! Whenever you open that thing up, be as paranoid as you possibly can. It's not held on very well, and there's a reason you rarely see one with both pieces of glass in it.

When I say paranoid..... picture that you have to babysit a T-ball team of 5 year olds, with their bats and balls, who are shopping for swarovski crystal, while you're wearing earplugs and welding goggles.

Nah I ain't worried about the back glass, it was already broken when I got it, hence why it was so cheap.

I finally got the unit assembled tonight, but when I go to start a game, a ball never pops out and the score board just has a blinking "0" and now none of the flippers work, about to check all the connections again, but any help or guidance would be highly appreciated!

Thanks

Throw my theory out the window, sorry I'm remembering wrong... The issue is that system 80 won't boot if the slam switch isn't closed, but that isn't your issue. CFH (Clay) is a far better expert on Gottlieb so listen to him over me :/

The blinking "0"s is defiantly caused by the MPU "seeing" the slam switch open. The slam switch is located on the inside of the coin door. It should be closed(contacts touching). If they ARE closed, you probably have a bad connector/contacts between switch and MPU. I highly recommend you contact Clay and order his DVD set for the System 80. The DVDs will walk you through 90% of problems you will encounter, and help you avoid future issues.

Your kidding right? I was right!?!?! I thought the tilt switch only caused them not to boot.

You ARE correct!!
Slam switch open-strobing 00000s on power up.
Tilt switch(s) closed-Tilt light on, and game resets

Slam switch should be closed and Tilts should be open

disjaukifa- You should also do the ground mods, and check edge connectors for proper contact.
These two items can be the source of all kinds of strange problems.
