Gosh Darnit, I Love Asteroids Deluxe

How does Asteroids look in an AD cab?

This one should keep me busy for a while. If I play it enough, I may start hunting for an AD. I don't play some games very often, but I never know until I get them home.

It looked good, just seemed something was missing in the game-play to me, If I didn't have another cab I would have no problem playing it like that though.

I'm not ocd about stuff like that but I guess from bitd and playing Asteroids I have come to expect it to play and look like it does in it's dedicated cab, I thought I might not want to keep it once I got the A/D but that has not been the case, I really still enjoy it's simplicity, A/D just ramps up the intensity in a really pretty package..for lack of a better description..lol..:)

I am an AD WHORE!!! I love that game. Regular is ok... But I prefer Deluxe. Hoping that dude gets the Asteroids Multigame out soon, and I might have to sell my Playchoice 10 to make room for an AD cabinet. My friend has a dedicated Asteroids and AD, butg I am stuck with Mame and AAE for now. Anyone in Cleveland want to trade an AD for a PC10?? :)

Hey X, here's a few more pics with the wife's 10mp camera:

Thanks Phet :)

I was looking mine over and noticed I had the brightness down a bunch so I tweaked it up some, but my background does not show up as well as yours does with any camera I have tried using, and it is a brand new blb.....

I need to try blw again. . it was really glary for me, but I suspect that the backside of the mirror is dusty.

New to the hobby and just purchased an Asteroids upright. Can anyone point me in the right direction to try and figure out how to get AD to play on my cab? I realize buying a dedicated cab is the best way to go but I have space issues so if I could somehow figure out how to get both games to play in one cab, that would be the best solution for me. Thanks for any help.

Here are some related links that I've saved. Seems like the best way to do it is via a ROM mod similar to the first link so that you don't have to change any other hardware:

Well if you can pick up an A/D board you can just plug it in and go, the two rotate buttons are reversed when playing in an Asteroids cab and to start a game I had to hit the coin up switch on the left coin chute, I don't have soldered connectors on my Asteroids leaf switches so it was really easy to slide off the connectors and put them in the right orientation to play A/D.

That's a little more complicated than what I was hoping for but thank you very much for the information.

You could probably order roms from hobbyroms with a fix if you tell them what you are trying to do. All you'd have to do is get a board and swap out the roms, which is pretty easy.

Anyone prefer the original bezel to the anti-glare kit? I have always wondered how the original set-up played. I really like the anti-glare kit, but I have never played it the other way. Can anyone who has played both weigh in for me?

Phet--

The Anti-Glare bezel gives the game more visual depth and since it covers the speaker that provides more bass and *thump* to the game. It's a better experience than the original bezel.
