Gosh Darnit, I Love Asteroids Deluxe

Been playing A/D in my Asteroids cab for a couple of days and after spending much more time with it I am going to have to retract my original sentiments on it.
The spinning asteroids are a nice improvement, the alien ships especially the large ones (I wasn't prepared for them) in this game have a mission and need to be dealt with quickly or your in trouble fast!
More sound effects and they are great sounding at that.
The killer sattelite isn't as bad to deal with as long as you have a plan....lol...

All in all this is a great sequel and a worthy addition to any vector lovers arcade.

I'm giving it two thumbs up-

Accurate Assessment. I love this game.

I can't wait to run it in the dedicated cab, I went and got a new blacklight last night just so I could sit in the garage and stare at the background all lit up in blacklit goodness......:)

Anybody here notice the AD in John Carpenter's The Thing? Interesting in that it has no side art...just white or gray sides. I believe the movie came out at the same time as the game...maybe this was a very early version?? Kurt Russell mentions in the commentary that they used to play the thing like crazy between takes.

I absolutely love my AD, sold my Asteroids cocktail as soon as I got it....have it next to Tempest and Space Dual.

I think I'm putting my Tempest in the middle of my Asteroids and A/D, A nice vector sandwich ;)

I never saw that but now I'm going to look for it. :)

Hey Phet, did you take off the bezel to get the blacklit background to show up more in this shot?

I took this with it on, got a nice effect but def want the asteroid field to show up better.

Nope, I left the bezel on and used my iPhone believe it or not. I like your action shot. The vectors really look blue.

Maybe I need a new black light bulb, just doesn't give me enough ambient light no matter which camera I use. :(

I'm picking up my Asteroids Deluxe this weekend and I am psyched!!!! Got a great deal from a friend!

Tempest is next...then my vector row will be: Asteroids Deluxe | Tempest | Star Wars

That's a heck of vector row!

Just looking at what I have here and more than half of the games I have are vector's :D

Hopefully I will make it down to Vegas in a couple of weeks to pick up my Asteroids. Has both Asteroids and AD boards in it. Now I get to test which one I like better. :)

I so want to get my game to work so I can join in the AD fun!

I was in that boat last weekend, bought my A/D and the cab was complete minus the deflection board, picked up an Omega Race as I did want one but after looking at it in it's non-working state I pulled the deflection board out of it an stuck it in the A/D, Initially got nothing, checked the brightness and is was set super low, cranked it up and got a fat horizontal line, took it back out and re-flowed the cold solder joint's on the connector pins, put it back in and bang I was playing A/D! :D

I played my A/D board in my Asteroids cab for a minute, had shuffle a couple of wires but nothing major as I didn't have an adapter, it's plenty playable but without the black light, mirror, and star field background it doesn't hold a candle to the dedicated cab, your gonna want one........ ;)

How does Asteroids look in an AD cab?

This one should keep me busy for a while. If I play it enough, I may start hunting for an AD. I don't play some games very often, but I never know until I get them home.
