My wife knew I really wanted a pinball machine so long story short we agreed on Gorgar. The machine is in very good shape with only some minor wear. I noticed an issue after playing for awhile though eventually the sound starts to cut out and garble followed by beeping and static. Im not sure where to start any suggestions guys?

Start with a cold solder joint... and hopefully you'll end with a cold solder joint. ;)

I picked up a Gorgar not too long ago and that was the only thing wrong with the sound issue it was having.

Good luck. :beerchug:

If I cant figure it out could someone direct me to were I can get a replacement sound board?

The static is being caused by failing caps. The sound ROM may also be kind of crusty. You can send the sound set to YellowDog for repair. I can test them, but they are a pain to repair.

I figured it was a heat issue as the game works solidly for 20 30 minutes before freaking out. The worst part is I bought it from a guy that said it was working 100% certainly doesnt seem so. Now when asked for advice I get no response he told me he had a tech go through all the boards prior to me picking the game up total disapointment only got to play a few times now.

I will order new caps and check the sound roms as per your guys advice. Sucks when you finally get your first pin and it breaks down right away ;-)

Ed at Great Plains Electronics sells cap kits for the, but there's two different types of kits and one is out of stock, depending on what size one of the caps is. Not sure with Gorgar if it uses at C29 if it's the 12000uf or the 4700uf.

But also replace the two 9-pin connectors going into the sound board too, those are the power and data connections and are known to be poor quality.

When it starts acting up, make sure to throw a DMM onto the test points, and verify the voltages are OK.
TP1 = +12
TP2 = -12
TP3 = Ground
TP4 = +5v
