I haven't looked into the issue yet but the right flipper on my gorgar pin was getting weak then stopped working all together...it does have a flipper rebuild kit in it...no wires loose or anything...any suggestions as to what to look into first?

clean your eos switch or replace

Is the end of stroke switch the piston type thing with the shaft that pushes the flipper or is it the leaf switch that the flipper hits as the flipper engages?

If its the piston thingy then i did replace with with a new one when i did a flipper install kit...i did not replace that leaf switch.

I apologize for my lack of knowledge with pinball parts names and inner workings...im not well versed in the pinball world as i am in arcades.

its the leaf switch that the flipper pawl engages at full stroke - should be closed when flipper is not engaged, providing a path for power to the coil, when it opens it cut power to the high power side of the coil leaving the hold portion energized

you can verify that the hold portion of this coil is working by listening for a low hum when you engage the flipper button - this hum will tell you that you have power going to the flipper coil if you don't hear this hum get the multi meter out ....

Im at work right so im not standing in front of the machine but i can tell u the leaf switch is in the correct position to break contact as the flipper goes to its furthest position..and i did hear the hum when it was working..but now the flipper wont even move when i press the flipper button...i appears like it wants to because u can see it kinda struggle a little trying to move but it doesn't.....when it happened it was working...then quickly got weaker..then would only move about half way and slow....to completely not moving at all.

I did not keep the game on and lift the play field to watch what could be going on...it was getting late and i was too tired and discouraged to mess with it.

if the EOS switch is dirty it will not make a good enough contact to energize the high power side of the coil and chances are you will still hear a hum coming from the hold portion of the coil even tho the flipper does not move (hold portion of the coil can't move the flipper plunger)
the hold power side is wired straight to the flipper button so when the button is pushed the coils hold side will be energized making a low hum - its power does not go thru the EOS switch

I push flipper button...that piston type thing engauges the flipper...the flipper mech hits the EOS switch (leaf switch).......

The pinston isnt moving anymore to move the flipper.

Can you move the flipper manually? I'll bet your sleeve is warped from the problem CreepyKenny is describing. If you EOS is not tuned when you hold the flipper it will overheat and slowly warp the sleeve. Then it will start to "catch" and eventually seize up.

if flipper mechanism moves freely in & out of the coil / coil sleeve, take a business card and squeeze it between the two contacts on the EOS switch moving it back and forth to clean that suspected dirty EOS switch

if it does not move freely in and out of the coil you have another problem, usually when a coil is locked on you will know it .... smells pretty bad when they over heat & melt the sleeve and wrapper

Yes..i can manually move the flipper back and forth with no resistance....the coil shaft moves freely also...everything can be manually moved with no problems.

No burnt smell or anything when flipper button is pressed..nothing is seized.

With the playfield up, power on and start a game. Hold the bad flipper button, and with a plastic or wooden tool push the EOS closed. If the coil fires you have a bad/pitted/misadjusted EOS switch that isn't making contact. Remember that coil power (the strong kick portion) goes through the EOS switch. Bad eos = no power

You can also you an alligator jumper across the blades of the EOS but be very very careful if the game has matrix switches stacked on the EOS of the flippers! The matrix switches are typically for lane changes and run at 5v; Flipper voltages can be 10x that. Don't create a short and send coil voltage down the logic voltage line:)

a short 47 sec vid of the issue..video top of play field and below

That looks like the high power winding is not in circuit and the hold winding is the only thing that works. Compare the EOS wiring on the right flipper with the left to see what is wired wrong.

Gorgar also doesn't have lane change so you shouldn't have any logic level switches on the EOS stack. But check you never know what people do to these things.

will do....and it was working for two years since ive owned it....it just started doing this sunday night.

Fixed!!..Thanks for all your help and suggestions on the thread and in private messages...it was the EOS switch...i pinched it together with my fingers and the flipper worked perfect..i took my narrow needle nose pliers and slightly bent the longer end of leaf switch into the shorter one to make sure they are touching and problem solved!

Thank you!!
