I have a Gorf that I have tested all the boards in a working game to find that all the boards are good except the processor board. All I get when booted up is a red screen. Any ideas where I should start to fix this?

Mine does something similar, i get a purplish screen most times, every now and then it's blue. Hopefully someone can assist? Do you get any sound??

I removed most of the socketed chips to clean, still have a few to go.. If i make any progress i'll let you know. I dont get sound either. Really want to get this thing working just like you. The cab is in very good shape! Too nice to let sit not working...

I would start by swapping out the custom processor and z80. It helps to have a known good set to swap in.

Exactly the right answer and if the custom processor doesn't have a factory installed heatsink, then it's likely toast.

I have cleared up Gorf's seeing red problem. There is a 72LS245 chip that is socketed and when I swapped it with the known good board the processor board works. Just have to order on from Riptor...... Are you going to be at DogP,s party on the 9th? Still need another switcher from you also. Will look to see what else I need before then.

Which location was this chip at? I have one marked 74ls245n at location U21, perhaps someone put the wrong one in before me, or could still be a compatiable chip?

Yes the chip I have that is bad is at location U21. It is socketed, so it made it easy to test with a known good one.
