What other game PCBs can be tested and interchanged with a Gorf? According to the Gorf KLOV entry:

>Only the game logic and RAMROM boards are specific to Gorf. The pattern board, cpu board, and RAM boards can be swapped out with other similar games, such as Wizard Of Wor.

Ok, that identifies Wizard Of Wor. What other games qualify under the "such as" clause in the above statement?

Can the pattern, CPU and RAM boards be swapped out with no changes?

Are the game logic and RAMROM boards physically the same, but ROM swaps would be needed otherwise?

Lastly, there are 6 boards in the set, but KLOV only mentions the 5 above, what one is missing, and is that one interchangeable?

Thanks for any information.

There's actually two identical RAM cards....that accounts for the sixth card.

Besides Wizard Of Wor.....you've got Robby Roto and Space Zap.

Each game's ROM/RAM card is physically different (besides, just different ROMs). The game cards are also different (this is the card the game's harness plugs into).

Oh yeah....
RAM cards, pattern board, and CPU board are all identical. They can be swapped without any changes.

Hi Edward, thanks for the feedback. This is the first time I've had a game of this PCB genre. I have various boardsets I was hoping to test. Any of the individual boards in the set more or less reliable than the others?

Those danm little RAM cards are known to have a bad RAM or two....and they're all soldered on....no IC sockets!

I'm finding the custom chips on the CPU boards are dying like crazy. I've replaced more in the last few years, than I have in my entire life.

Pattern boards seem to be robust....though, these do suck when you've actually got to repair one.

I find the ROM/RAM board pretty reliable....rotten legs on masked ROMs are common.

The game logic boards.....bad speech chips (expensive)....and bad custom I/O/sound chips.
