Gorf PCB cage orientation? (Wizard Of Wor, Space Zap, Roby Roto too)

On Gorf, Roby Roto, Space Zap and Wizard Of Wor, does it make a difference what location in the cage for each board? Other than the RAM boards going in the RAM slots, can the other boards go in the other slots in any location? I suspect you can't turn some of them around, but can they all be turned around?

Do all 4 games use all 6 slots in the cage? Thanks,

Yup, Cards can go in any slot you like (with the obvious exception you already mentioned about the two smaller RAM cards). This is how I work on them....problem board is moved to the fromt slot for access and probing.

I don't know if it's possible to install a card "backwards". I've never tried it......but don't do it!

Space Zap only uses 5 cards.

Hi Edward,

Thanks much for the answers, and good tip on putting the problem board in the front for easier access.

So what board doesn't Space Zap use?

And you're right about not putting them in backwards. I happened to look at the bottom of the cage and the voltages are brought in on one side of the board, so putting them in backwards, even though they fit that way, will not get you voltage where you want, and will put voltage where you don't want. Sure to be a bad result.

On Space Zap, the ROM/Ram board and the "Game" board (the one the harness plugs into) are combined onto one card.

FYI Joe
I have a ton of these style for Professor Pac...the bottom slots are notorious for causing glitches that really aren't in the boards...Riptor found a source for these..it would help to replace them as the life of those I'm sure has long since expired and it eliminates a lot of glitches that you can spend hours chasing around on the boards when its related to the grip of the edge connectors on bottom..
