While I know these things have issues, there's no clue what is wrong with this particular one. It's local, and a very strange series of events put this on my radar.

From the pictures, it's complete, monitor hasn't been "necked", and aside from the usual wear on the CP, looks in pretty decent shape.

The guy has no clue what games are worth, but I'm not looking to take advantage of that(it's not my style, and I firmly believe in karma). I've arranged to go take a look at it in person. I'm also taking some screenshots of values for both working and non-working.

Given it's condition, if it turns out to look as nice in person.... my top offer is around $175-$200. I'm looking for opinions on this, please and thank you.

I'm thinking this could be a very simple fix..... but there's a gamble that I'm wrong.

If it's complete but not working (and not completely beat up), I think your price range is good. Worst case, you can get a replacement board set for $150 or less and have a fully working Gorf for under $400.

Assume the linear PS is bad. So plan on fixing it or putting in a switcher.

But the odds of the boards being bad is about 60%. The ram cards have issues, eprom board issues, and the custom chip can fail. If you need a boardset, bank on $200+.

You have to figure its going to be a $25-$250+ fix to get it running. Then another $50-100+ or so to get it nice. And that's assuming the cabinet and control panel are good.

So I would say under $200 for a nice looking cab is fair.

Thanks for the info, guys. I'm going to meet the guy tonight. His asking price was based on an overpriced retail site, but he admits he doesn't know what it's really worth. I'm going in polite, and with info. I'd rather do that part face to face, rather than in email. Might come off wrong without voice inflections.

There's a possibility he won't accept my offer, but that's the name of the game. Then again, he might prefer to get something rather than take it to the dump.
