First a little background: P.S. has been rebuilt & has correct voltages, all connectors have been replaced & pins resoldered.
I have the voice and all other sounds, except the explosion and shot fired, which leads me to believe both sides of the audio amp are working and it's a board issue.
Anyone know where the sounds are generated on the board set, or have any advice?
Thanks

I'd check the 40 pin custom I/O chips on the "game board" (the board with the connectors).

One that I had did have screwed up explosions. I can not recall what else was screwed up/missing once I fixed it. The explosions were very noticeable so they drew my attention. The shots fired may also be on the same channel. Anyway, in my case, for whatever reason, my speaker was toast so anything that happened out of that channel was crap. A crackly squeal was all you would get. I would stick your ear up to the speakers and see which side(s) is(are) outputting sound to make sure both are doing something. If one side is dead look at the speaker itself or that side of the amp. If you have a dead side you can also swap the dead speaker leads to the live side to see if the amp is still alive. In this case I would not swap the dead side to the good before checking the amp and the speaker.
