I picked this ugly little Midway cocktail cab up from a fellow KLOVer about a month ago in a good ol fashion northern Ohio snowstorm! It was a dedicated Gorf cocktail (2330) that had at one point in its life been converted to a Mr.Do.
This is what I am starting with.....

Well since I'm not much of a Gorf fan, and would much rather see this machine live out its days as something else, I decided to fix it up and convert it to a Ms Pac. Over the last month I have slowly been collecting the pieces for the conversion for the day when I started this project......

It still had the Gorf control panels, wiring harness that had been hacked for a newer power supply and to play Mr Do....And a dead G07 monitor....
So with the help of a few fellow Klovers I was able to find a Ms Pac CT Wiring Harness with all the trimmings, and a coinbox and lid...instead of THIS.....

I was able to locate a decent set of control panels on Ebay.....
They will need stripped and restored as well....but they are complete, and have the sticks and wiring still attatched...

Since I have nearly ALL the pieces to begin, and I had some free time this weekend. I started this project!
I managed to remove the old guts, get the inside cleaned and painted, and got the new Ms. Pac Brick and wiring harness installed.....
This project is being done from the inside out.....
So stay tuned over the next month or so and I'll be updating this project as I go....

I'm a big fan of GORF
Its not that I don't like Gorf, But I think Gorf is best enjoyed on a stand up!! IMO...
A minty Gorf CT has to be a fairly rare thing I would think? Anyone have a pic?!

I got the wiring harness mounted up the rest of the way. Also got the PCB and daughter board mounted.
The machine is now playing blind....the G07 is getting 120, both fuses test good, but still has no HV......
Anyway here is tonight's progress so far......

Well I put a "Bob Roberts G07 Deluxe" on this ol G07 tonight. Including a new Flyback & HOT with no luck..... It still had no HV....Since I figured it needed that stuff anyway, I didn't feel too bad about putting all that stuff on....
I dug a little deeper....After a looking and testing, I found that R902 was open! I replaced R902 and.......
SHE LIVES!!
Not the best picture in the world, but its displaying Ms Pac and at I'm one step closer!

I did a little more tinkering on the monitor tonight....This is the best I could get it. The picture is nice but I think the yoke needs adjusted? The top of the maze is square, while the bottom is slanted inward.... I put a known good chassis in and it was the same.
Well since I've never messed with adjusting a yoke, and have no idea what I will be adjusting, I'm hoping someone over on the monitor section can point me in the right direction.........
Here's what I've got.

So I was able to work a little this weekend, I am gearing up to get married next week, so time was hard to come by.
At any rate, I got the monitor to the point where "I can live with it"
And got the paint off the old glass. To remove it, I used 100% acetone in a squirt bottle. Basically after you spray it on, the paint just wipes away!
Once it was cleaned up, the glass was in really nice shape.

That's a very common display issue with Midway Pac boards on GO-7's and it's aggravating.

In the past 20 years I've seen exactly 1 display with perfect geometry on a GO-7; and to those that say, "mine looks fine, you must be doing something wrong", you're not looking close enough!

Sometimes bumping up the B+ helps, other times tweaking the horz. freq. helps, but it never looks EXACTLY square. I'm not talking about one game either, I've had probably 60+ Pacs, Ms Pacs, UR and CT's.

You can also use a fresh razor blade at a very sharp angle and it will flake the paint off without scratching the glass. I do this ALL the time, so no worries about scratching glass. Just remember, must be a fresh blade, no nicks.

Yep, have done this trick too! It works good, but the acetone works even better.... It is a little messy though...You have to use 100% pure acetone though, that's the trick.....
That monitor drove me INSANE! I adjusted the B+, every pot, in every combination possible. Different Pac boards, different chassis, you name it, I tried it! The only thing that helped was to put in the 2 new caps. ???? Who knows? But Mod knows his S#!t, and it helped! The burn on that tube tells me that the Mr Do that spent most of the time in that tube was crooked too! The burn is crooked! So apparently it isn't just a Ms Pac/G07 issue?
One thing that I noted, (ManIn you may have noticed this too) Gorf is played from the opposite site of the cab. The start button/1up WAS where the 2up is on a Pac/MsPac. Might that have made a difference? I doubt it, but who knows?

Well little progress but, got the clips cleaned up and repainted tonight. I am missing 2 major items to complete this, the monitor bezel, and new CPO's. I am going to order them when I get back my wedding next week!

Welp here is a couple pics, BEFORE, AFTER

UPDATE!
After a 3 week hiatus, I got back to work on this project today......
First I had to adjust the monitor up. There was a gap between the monitor and bezel. The "ears" were mounted on the bottom of the frame. I moved them to the top of the frame. I added a couple washers and was able to get things to all line up an d got rid of that 1/4" gap. I also trimmed down the bezel and put on the new tinted plexi. I put on the new underlay, and put on the glass with my freshly painted clips.....
Here are the pics....
Tomorrows task, the coin door......

I got the wiring on the coin door hooked up correctly.....
I then put a fresh coat of satin black on the coin door, and the vents.
Also new T-molding.
All that is left is to redo the control panels and I need to do something about the torn laminate on the bottom.....

But shes starting to look a lot like a Ms Pacman cocktail!
Compared to the last pic....it has come a long way
