Got my Gorf back together today enough to try it out. I have a rebuilt G07 in here that worked fine when I first got the game. It had a tube, and no chassis, so I grabbed a fully rebuilt chassis from Chris, popped it in and had a great pic. Now the machine has been torn apart for 6 months, but the monitor hasn't been moved from the cab in all that time. I powered it up and the synch was off. turned it off, checked the connections and noticed I was one pin off on the small connector/header. Fixed that, turned it back on, but now I can't get it to stop rolling horizontally. I can get it to slow way down, then change direction, but it will not stop. The game is coming up in attract mode just fine, sound is all there. Do I have a bad frequency or hold Pot? Should I try to output the video to a rebuilt 4600 and see if the roll stops? Otherwise the pic looks great, but it just won't stand still.

Alright, I think I figured it out. The larger wafer connector that plugs into the board stack has several 22 g wires that go into it. Well, it seems several of these, mainly video, were spliced on and merely twisted together. Some of the bare, frayed wires were touching other bare, wires and causing the synch issue. It's amazing to me what some people consider 'fixes'. Now I'll need to, at the very least, solder and shrink tube these damned things. If I really get bored I may replace the entire connector, but for now, shrink tubing and solder will do.
