ok i am a little late to this sketchup thing and still learning how to set up. i don't get how to get the games on the "face" i guess...i have games cut off on the bottom of the cab and hard for me to get to sit them on the offset from the wall. i can move/turn with the blue bracket thing but not sure on the other points of the blue brackets(purple, red dots). maybe there is a definition for each "endpoint in component, midpoint in component, etc...

is there an easy solution that i am doing wrong? i have played with this for hours and don't have anymore time to jack with, that's why i figured i would play dumb on here. is there a tutorial on turning and moving/lining games up also?

also, games i still need is a pod racer twin sitdowns, basketball hoop game, and super GT twin racers if anyone has those(i tried searching for them)

thanks for your help, i didn't wanna hijack a good thread,
Kelly

When moving cabs around your layout try to avoid moving a model in any direction other than X,Y,Z. When moving in a perfect X direction you'll see a red dashed line appear, when moving in a Z direction you'll see the green dashed line, and when moving in the Y direction you'll see the blue dashed line appear. When you move around in an organic way, the models do have a tendency to drop below the floor or squeeze thru a wall because your "move" targets various other components.

When you load in the model, select the "move" tool and rotate it the desired angle. Then use "move" again to move it to the desired location. In the simplest answer, without using any offset or guide tools, just move select the "midpoint" of the back face of the model and drag it along the x or z axis until you see the words "on face" appear. This means that the back edge of the model has been placed on the surface of the wall. Then, once it is on the wall, let's say you want it exactly 3 inches off the wall.... select the model again with "move" and drag it the opposite direction away from the wall (doesn't matter how far, just be sure one of the colored dashed lines is showing) and type "3" and enter. The model is moved three inches away from the wall, but still sits on the floor.

God, this would be sooooo much easier to show you, but I can't get hypercam setup on my laptop.

Also, type in Google Warehouse search for "basketball arcade" you'll find a few mediocre models of that. Use Muerto's Daytona USA model for Super GT (i'll be modeling that one as well). At present there is no Pod RAcer model. I will eventually make it, but it is buried at my buddy's shop.

thank you Gozer! this does help and i did find the tutorials on this that helps but still a little vague on the xyz lines but i am playing with it. yeah i wish you could physically just show me as i learn better with visuals. i am starting a gameroom in my 1500sq ft warehouse for the public so my space is tight anyway that's why this sketchup is a great tool for me!!!

i was doing this the opposite way, putting the wall up and then putting in the 3" offset prior to inputting my games....i will erase the offset and do as you say(probably was confusing me doing this with the offset first.

also, i was really getting confused with my warehouse walls setting them to 16' to size rather than just making a 1' or 2' wall for the ease of moving and orbitting(was losing time just going outside the walls not knowing how the heck to get back) lol

thanks for the help on this as i know you guys are way ahead of me!

yeah i am using the Daytonas for my super GTs now and also need the ATV Track game but not sure if those are gonna be made. i'm guessing you need the actual game to measure points to sketch? i have a pod racer twin game if you need something from it.

No to the ATV game as of right now, but yes, I will be making Super GT (but it'll be the sega twin style cab with no curved plastic). The Pod Racer has so many strange curves that the only way this one can be done is to hand measure my buddy's in person. Don't think it'll happen till 2012 though.
