...Doctor Who.

However, I won't be keeping this game, as the theme is completely lost on me (I've never seen a second of the show), and I simply cannot stand the volume difference between the (awesome) music and the Dalek sound samples. Every time multiball starts and the Daleks start screaming -- along with the other LOUD and annoying sound effects during multiball -- I just want to turn the machine off. (I wasn't bothered too much by this at first, but after five days of it, I've had all I can take.)

And while I initially thought the gameplay was fun and had the potential to get even better the more I played it, I'm finding the opposite to be true. The more I play it, the less interested I am. It just feels like the only thing to really do on the machine is just hammer away at that mini-playfield. *shrugs*

Anyways, I'll be returning the game for full credit, throwing in a bit more cash and bringing home something that I REALLY want in my collection: The Getaway: High Speed II.

Woohoo!

I can't stand it either. DOCTOR DOCTOR holy hell stfu. Gameplay is pretty lame too.

Too bad you're not closer, I think I'm going to sell my Getaway.

There are resistors on the PDB that control the amount of sound to the music and speech. If someone swapped out the PDB from another game, your sounds may be unbalanced because Williams used different values for different games. With some adjustment, you can get things in line and sounding correct. If you don't like the game, you may not want to bother, but it can be fixed.

This is detailed in the pinrepair guides.

I'm definitely not gonna keep the game (to me, The Getaway is a hundred times better), but it's good to know that the volume disparity can be adjusted.

I'll be sure to pass that along when I return the machine. Thanks!

Did you just get tired of it?

Not really tired of it, there's just other pins I want as always. :)

I'm going to regret asking, but how much and when?

$1300, the display is fuzzy looking and the cab is water damaged on the front. The playfield is excellent and the boards look great too, no burned connectors or hacks. I've been torn on keeping or selling but I'm ready for something different. I need to fix a couple things on it.

Just wondering what you paid for your Doctor Who? If you don't mind me asking. I've been looking for one for awhile but one of the operators here in Chicago has one for $1600 and it seems a little high to me.

I gave $1,200 for it unshopped, but fully working. (Well, except for one broken sling that needed a new plunger/link and a couple new fuses for the backbox/topper lighting.)
