Good Superauction in Atlanta today, and picked up some personal Grails!
I just got home from the Atlanta Super Auction. I thought it was a pretty good one. Met some fellow KLOVers there like Preston (nocashvalue) and Arthur. Bought some games that i have been trying to pick up for a LONG time, including...
Outrun 2 twin (will update to SP)
Sega F355 twin -as much as i wanted a deluxe, it was nice and much more practical!
Quick and Crash -modern Namco light gun target game with interesting features
"Big Blue" Dynamo Capcom Qsound cabinet
On both the racing games, i was in direct bidding competition with the same guy both times. Im thinking he MAY be a member on here. Sorry if I make the auction bad for you, but i have been wanting to pick those games up for a LONG time. I traveled a good ways to get there, and i wanted to take advantage of being able to get these on the same trip. I actually contemplated talking with him about it, but didn't know how he would feel about me even bringing it up.
Overall, I am really happy with how the auction went. There were LOTS of great deals to be had. A lot of older equipment was going for $10-$25 a piece. A really nice Stargate went for $200 and one of the nicest Joust machines that i have seen in a LONG time went for $500 early in the auction. A nearly mint anniversary Space Invaders/Qix combo game (with 25" monitor) was the THIRD Game to be auctioned, and it sold for only $387.50. I THOUGHT about bidding on that one, but it was too early in the game for me to start buying games right off the bat. You have to pace yourself, you know?
LARGE equipment, of which there was a LOT of, was not selling very well. The BEST deal of the event were 6 brand new WSOP high top cocktails with secondary LCD viewing screens (for spectators) which all sold for $750 EACH. They claimed that these are $6K a piece, and they sure looked like it. They also had 6 of those huge "Ballistics" games that you lie down inside of looking up at the screen and play a racing game sort of like Wipeout. The only person who was willing to take (only one) of the six pieces paid only $150 for it. There were still signs on the games where the owner had previously been trying to "clearance" them out for $2,000 a piece...
