Good source of HAPP Competition buttons and sticks?

Do people like these sticks?

I had a set and flat out could not stand them.
I ended up replacing mine with a set of Sanwa balltops. MUCH better stick in my opinion.

I think it is all preference, and there is a major difference between the super, ultimate, and competition. Cause if it weren't for the competitions I would use Sanwas too. But I think the Sanwas look weird in a USA cabinet. And you have to make them fit too.

I also only like Sanwas if the square restrictor plate has been replaced with a Sanwa GT-0 Round Restrictor Plate, the stock square ones are too jarring to play fighters for any extended time.

I put together a Blast City panel together for a friend recently with sanwas in it. It is OK, but really needs the GT-0 Round Restricto or Sanwa GT-Y Octagonal Restrictor Plate.

Unless you get the small Nintendo-like joystick, Sanwas have standard mounting holes. I have them in all my cabs (4) and love them. I have the Sanwa bat-top sticks in my Neo, and they look very similar to US style bat-tops IMO, and with the round plate, they are unbeatable for fighting games.

How much did that end up with the bat-top, plate, and stick? I am sure it cost a lot more than $8. Don't get me wrong I would love them, that or a 360.

Groovy Game Gear

Ah a good place for a couple things. First, there was a thread a while back about Ultimates vs Competition, with some discussion about the actuators on the bottom of the stick being replaced at ggg vs the stock happ ones:

http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=121913

As to who to get them from, I absolutely love my ggg sticks vs the standard happ ones just due to them feeling more responsive with the replaced actuators.

I forgot to mention that the first Competitions I bought from GGG had the actuators replaced with white ones, but later when I bought sticks for my Marvel Vs Capcom they no longer swap the actuators as HAPP revised the black ones so they work better. They are better, but the white ones are nylon vs pvc like the black ones.

Price:
$13.95 from HAPP
$8.94 GroovyGameGear
$7.95 Lizard Lick

That and the $25 minimum for ordering, which has kept me from impulse buying from them on several occasions when I needed parts but not $25 worth and couldn't find anything else to buy @ the time.

Ah, that would clarify the somewhat ambiguous "New smooth-floating square actuator for perfect 8-way performance!" in the description on the website. I'm guessing it's referring to a change that Happ has made, not something they're doing in house anymore.

Lizard lick kicks ass!

OK! So I ordered the buttons on Wednesday evening from Lizard Lick and got them this morning!!! HOLY COW!!! FAST!!!

Just kind of wish I got the gold plated cherry microswitches, but they cost more than buttons with crappy Chinese buttons. :)

2 thumbs up for Lizard Lick! I cannot wait to get the competition buttons in my Marvel Vs Capcom! I regular convex for the MK1 and Red competition sticks. Now all my cabs have competition sticks except for the Galaga. :D
