I actually have soldered in only my underwear. Sometimes at night I will sneak downstairs and decide to work on something for a few minutes and then a few minutes turns into an hour. It sucks when hot solder falls on your thighs with no protection.

I leave the thread for a couple of days and look what happens! Besides, if you were wearing chaps like you're supposed to be, it wouldn't hurt nearly as bad.
