Hey Guys,

Need to get a 19" LCD to replace an old, blown out CRT.

Any suggestions? Good place that has decent prices?

Thought I would check with everyone here before just buying the first one I see...

Using it in a cocktail table with 60 in 1 board...

Thanks for any suggestions!

Later,

Jess

Ick. I wouldn't get an LCD if they were the only displays left on earth. Start a thread here that you need a replacement monitor, and someone will help you. What happened to the old monitor? Perhaps we can assist in getting you to repair it?

The old..

The old one is toast...cracked screen...long story...otherwise I would have just got a cap kit or something for it...

Anyway..thanks for the suggestions so far...I appreciate it!

I need a monitor for my Crystal Castles... was thinking of putting an LCD in it because it seemed more economical & the image wouldn't suffer terribly. If someone has a CRT monitor that would work, I'm open to getting one...

I didn't think LCD's would look that bad until I saw one in person. Just be patient and you will find a good 19" CRT either here or on CL for cheap. If not, buy a non working game or crap game no one wants for $50 and take out the monitor.

If you are going to put it in a cocktail game then the last thing you want to do is go with some cheapo off of craigslist.

You can put an LCD in and have it look decent, but you need to make sure it is a good LCD with good contrast and a wide viewing angle. If you are buying a cut-rate LCD or a 6+ year old used monitor off of craigslist, I seriously doubt you will be at all happy with the results.

My suggestion is to contact twisted quarter about this monitor and ask them if they have the specs on the viewing angle. If it is about 160 degrees then you should be fine.

Also the difference between IPS (In Plane Switching) and TN (Twisted Nematic) LCD displays is dramatic. Almost all older/cheaper LCDs are TN. The far superior IPS technology has become cheaper and is now more widespread.
