Good haul, with obscure titles!

wow, nice score there dean!!

love the universal games (some of the best artwork).

wow, that slither is kinda random too. i remember playing the hell outta that game on my colecovision.

are all these games gettin stored @ the inlaws garage?? chris

Nice score. Some crazy odd titles there.

And I'll be happy to get better photos of the Slither CP and art work when I get a chance.

I would love this. I have a converted one out in my garage right now that I trying to restore. I would love a good scan/photo of the CPO and bezel.

I'm kinda impressed that the slither fired up unless of course someone had been playing it recently. I think the first page of the manual says that if the game has not been on within two or three days it will likely boot to an error screen which I have seen more than once. I would have grabbed the battle zone, mario bros and gauntlet myself as they are good games even if not uncommon.

Jiminy Hotdog Christmas!
Is the Space Panic's Monitor hood in good condition? That has some awesome art, really and truly.
Thief was the only rare Coin-op I got to play with any regularity 'Back in the Day'. Got some nice memories about that one, I do....

I saw that auction link on CL too. Looks like you got nearly all of them. Did they let you look at them beforehand? I think it said it was an online only auction.

So is there a story attached to these games?

Here is the story on these machines to the best of my knowledge. I purchased these from a Prop/Set Dressing auction in Los Angeles. These were games used as props in Tron Legacy! They were used by Disney to film the Flynn's Arcade scenes on location up in Vancouver, BC. Just from watching the trailers I have been able to match up several of the games from this lot (Slither, 2 of the generic Universal cabs, Make Trax, Spy Hunter, M-4, Theif). I also recieved confrimation from John's Jukes up in Vancouver that they sold some of these very titles to Disney for the film. Several other vendors supplied games to Disney for the film, and I have not yet been able to track them down and get confirmation. My understanding is that after filming wrapped, Disney employees got first shot at buying any of the games. Then Disney sold many of the machines back to the vendors who supplied them in the first place. After that, my guess is that Disney shipped the remaining games back down to SoCal to be stored along with other props from the movie. Fast forward to 3 or so months ago, Disney must have been cleaning out their storage and to free up space these machine get sent to a lquidator and put up at auction. Several of the games still have operator tags from Vancouver vendors so that part along with the confirmation from Jonh's Jukes checks out. Also, most of the machines had their stock marquee lights removed and replaced with rigged up studio lighting to get the right "glow" for the film. All in all a pretty cool story to go along with this score. If anyone matches any of the other machines up in the film please let me know. Or, if anyone has info on who the other Canadian suppliers to Disney may have been please let me know as well.

Holy crap balls!

Are you keeping all of them???

I only have 3 of them left. The rest were sold to another local collector.

I saw that auction link on CL too. Looks like you got nearly all of them. Did they let you look at them beforehand? I think it said it was an online only auction.

Yes, there was a preview that I attended. I was allowed to open up and test all of the machines, which was the only reason I decided to bid on the games. All of the actual bidding was done online. I guess Genen from Vintage Arcade Superstore also won a few of the machines and he heard the same story about them being used in Tron Legacy.
