Last week I had a few arcade games doing some annoying stuff, one was a Galaga with no sound, the other was a Donkey Kong with the colors off.

So I emailed Steph at www.HobbyRoms.com and ordered some proms for both. Now keep in mind he's in Canada...

I got the chips in today, reasonable prices, and fixed both boards with those proms.

So if you need any 1 off chips or just a few, or weird ones like those proms that are a little obscure... check out Steph.

I don't see him mentioned on here all that much so thought I would just put in another good word for him. Plus i'm really happy I fixed two games, lol.

He burned my Balloon Fight roms and another custom rom.

For the latter, he accidentally burned the wrong file, but quickly sent me a new one free of charge with a smile.

Recently, he let KLOVers know that he'd be "out of the office" for a couple of weeks just as a courtesy.

I can go on and on with his good deeds. Steph is a cool guy. Great customer service. Period.

I get all my eproms done by him, even though I have a burner.. call me lazy... But he is consistently excellent on communication, pricing, and shipping. One of the best in the hobby!

Learn how to use it already lol.
Honestly - some burners out there are freaking ridiculous with all the jumpers and dip switches and to make matters worse the software is clunky if you can even find the software that it'll work with.
Luckily I have access to a sweet burner here at work that is very straight forward. But I will say I have also used Steph and he's the man.

The issue I have is they use an ancient serial port.. I have about a hundred eproms, a uv eraser I built..etc.. used to burn lots of them and had a seriously outdated computer to do it since nothing comes with serial anymore.. and I finally gave that computer away to a friend that really needed something... guess I could buy a usb-> serial adapter... but its just so easy to drop Steph an email and let him do the work.. :)
...and the fact there seemed to be a whack of 'compatable' eproms that the cheap programmer wouldn't program.

For a Canadian, Steph is a great guy. :p

He is super quick with the shipping too as I needed a few Gauntlet chips and got them sooner then I thought I would. :D

Dealt with once for a ms. pac speed chip. Then i Ended up having a problem after it was installed so he burnt me an entire NEW set of ms. pac eproms and mailed them to me free of charge! Great Guy!

Wow! I smell roasting Steph!!

He did my multi-Gauntlet ROMs.. but I have yet to complete my endeavor on that project.
Reasonable and fast he was!

Gee..., stop it, you are all making me blush ! ;-)

..but I'm glad my burning services are well liked.
Word-of-mouth from this forum accounts for a decent amount of my orders.

Ordered my Tron freeplay chip from Steph on Saturday 6/12 and got it today! Big thumbs up to Hobby Roms!!!

To be honest, that was fluky.

I live in Canada, so delivery to the US "usually" takes 7+ days,
but I have a US PO Box in NY State (right at the border, about 1hr from where I live)
and drive down about once every month.

Any orders I get a few days before my trip are shipped when I go to my PO Box.
Shipping from within the US is 2-3 days rather than 7.

In your case, I got the order early on Saturday morning and was able
to get them ready before I made the drive. This was the best possible
outcome for you. ...but it's not the norm.

That's said, thanks much for all the kind words.

I very much appreciate it.

Cheers,
Steph

Yep, I'll give a shout. Just got my Punch-out freeplay Proms today. Installed and works great. Reasonable prices, great communication, fast shipping even with vacation delays.

Everyone should use them. Keep good guys like this and Bob Roberts around by giving them our business.

Steph's been a great guy to deal with in my quest to revive my Punisher. I still need to order those last few eproms in the near future so my region codes match. :)

My Moon War is one step closer to working thanks to Steph. Looks like I have more to buy though, its stuck one step further than it was without the ROM. Should have just bought the whole set. Doh!
