Got these at lunch time today...

And then on the way home I swung by a co-worker's house to pick this up...

Biggest problem is that the backglass needs to be replaced due to lots and lots of missing paint and flaking...

It also doesn't work yet... but I've made some decent progress getting the displays working and solenoids to stop burning.

The wifey and kiddos can't wait for this to start working... so I'm taking off Thursday and Friday to try and please them. :)

Dude... If you want me to come down to your place to hang out, just ask :)
No need to lay out the bait :D
When does RB arrive?
FP is one of my all time fav pins... fairly simple, but can kick your a$$
when it wants to!
Let me know if I can assist in reviving FP... I might be able to help out.
cheers

:D

Not sure about the RB yet. Was working on one in Texas but couldn't justify the cost for door-to-door shipping and the closest drop-ship place was Rochester.

Working on one now that is much closer than Texas. :)

And as far as FirePower, have you ever had one get hung up as soon as you turn it on with a "4" on the left 2-digit display and a counter on the right 2-digit display(counts from 1 to 40 and then back to 1 and goes to 40 again, etc).

The person I bought it from did the FPCombo hack but it doesn't look like he did all the steps because I don't see the resistor or diodes so that's where I'm going to start tomorrow after work. There's also a hell-lotta solder work that someone did so I wouldn't doubt there could be problems there too.

I've got a Firepower too - the backglass on mine is horrendous. Mine powers on but wont start the game - I havent had time to solder in the new interconnect yet, but am hoping that resolves the problem....

Nice score, good pin, family should enjoy!

FP also won't start a game if it can't find all three balls.. check the trough switches to make sure they are working correctly. The interconnect is definitely a trouble spot on these pins tho.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya!

Gotta love fixing other peoples hackery... I'm pretty sure I've also been the guy who's hackery needed to be fixed

the 4 + counting issue sounds like it may be a switch matrix problem? Does the player 1 score display change at all while its doing this? The 4 in the left display means audit/settings mode and the right display is the index into the settings. It sounds like it thinks the "+/-" switch is on (and somehow the man/auto switch (to put it into audit mode))... Try unplugging the switch matrix connectors from the cpu board to see what happens...

:) Yep... me too on that!

During this counting, the player 1 score will sometimes start off as all zeroes, and then change as the counter runs. Also funny, the start button will freeze the "counter" while you hold it down.

Wish I could take today off to work on it but I have to go to school for work so it's definitely a no-go on that idea. :D

The start button is how you adjust a setting.. so it kind of makes sense.. really starting to sound like a switch matrix issue.

Have you checked out http://www.firepowerpinball.com/ ?
an awesome site for any FP owner!!!

You would love a new one!!

Here is the BG that came with my Firepower:

And here is the new replacement I purchased:

It was worth the money. Good thing I didn't pay much for the game.

Wow, that's a great site. Just downloaded all the drawings and I see the section you're referring to... looks like there's a PIA controlling it and that's one of the chips that has "hell-lotta" solder around it. :)

I'll disconnect the two harnesses and see what happens... if it's still funky I'll get looking at that section of the board for solder "bombs". :D

Thanks again. :beerchug:

Man... that's perfect. How much did it set you back?

It was $325 shipped from Mayfair Amusements. They are NOS glasses made back in the 90s IIRC. I bought the new chrome glass lift channel to go with the glass, I think it was an extra $25.

Hmmm... I paid $350 for the whole game BUT depending on how much it gets played I can see putting that into it(if we decide to definitely keep it).

Man that looks awesome!

It was quite a bit of money. I paid $100 for my Firepower but it needed everything worked on, so ultimately I couldn't stop staring at the bad backglass. For me it was a worthwhile purchase.
