How can I tell what version a golden tee board is. My friends machine will not boot and I want to replace the hard drive. It has a 2004 marquee. But he told me he thinks its a 2005. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I don't want to order the wrong drive and have it not boot.

The security chip has a code on it. G42 is Golden Tee 2002, G43 is 2003, etc. G4C is GT Complete. The surface mount chip in your second pic looks to have alot of mangled pins, so that's likely part of the issue. Unless it is just debris tricking my eyes.

security chip is u53
when u say it will not boot ?
do 2 green leds come on and blink ?
dose the ide >red light by the hard drive cable blink ?
if yes then look into the drive.
if u need to replace the harddrive ?
then u muight as well change out the old egale rom @u15
we are all using egale 2.09
which allows for any size harddrive/cf card/ssd

I get no light on the hard drive led. However the two green LEDs do blink. When loading it says checking idea, may take several moments and I get three green lines of text that says check ok.

na thats the co processer
it would not even make it that far if that chip was "bad"

if u are not getting a red ide light ?
then chk the # of u53 before going any futher
it is very important
