Is there a website that explains upgrading a Golden Tee? I know that I can buy the matched hard drive with main board, but what if I have a Golden Tee 2005 board and hard drive. Can I somehow upgrade it to a GT Complete without paying for a new board and hard drive? Is there anyone here on the boards that can upgrade my current board/hard drive?

I have also heard that boards have to be sent to IT to be upgraded?

Thanks

search ebay and you will find a cheap set of items to upgrade yours to a complete. this doesnt help you with trying to upgrade your current parts but i dont know about that, i know i seen them sell for around $150 used though.

You won't find a "Complete" boardset for $150. They are usually $300-$500. The 2003-2005's go for $100-$150.

Buying the boardset is the easiest way. There is also a guy from MI that can upgrade your boardset for $250 plus you pay shipping but another KLOV'er had a bad experience so proceed with caution.

Yeah, the jury is still out on him. There was a ton of negative press, but I received multiple PMs from KLOVers telling me that they dealt with him and didn't have issues. I'm currently having issues, so I will report back. I'm pissed at this point.

Please keep us posted. There has to be a way to upgrade without buying a whole new boardset every time. There is only ONE person on here that can do this? If you want to remain anonymous, shoot me a PM and we'll go from there.

Thanks

You can find anything with patience.

interesting

I was trying to sell some 2004 & 2005 GT a few months ago and no one wanted to buy them even though they work and they're cheap.

2x - Golden Tee 2004 PCB w/HD (7 course) $80 + 20 shipping = $100 shipped ea. US
GT 2004 4.01.02 LR with HW version 6 green

1x - Golden Tee 2005 PCB w/HD (7 course) $100 + 20 shipping = $120 shipped ea. US
GT 2005 EX 5.01.06 LR with HW version 4 green

Seems a LOT cheaper than what you guys are paying! (blatant plug) :)

no shit huh?

I have been in contact with mr pinball and told him I heard he had issue, with people getting wrong boards, and different color boards and such.

he said " we were really busy, now we are caught up and he doesn't imagine any issues"

keep us posted jow

mr pinball isn't a member here I don't think, maybe he is.
I can't speak with certainty, but people have been trying to crack the security for awhile now. he is the one that did it.
Only guy I know of that offers this service. And I don't think he sends you a new board, he upgrades your current one.

I sure would like to know how he did it. I guess it will eventually be discovered and then we can all do it cheap and easy.

Got my PCB back over the weekend, and all is well. It took me about 2 weeks to get everything back, so if you can wait a little bit this upgrade is more than worth it. I would suggest sending an email first just to see how busy they are.

Since I still haven't seen a Complete PCB for less than $400 on ebay, the $250 price tag is totally worth it.

Pretty much guaranteed to not be legal though...

Good to see it went well.

I would be down with this for sure. How do you get in touch with this guy??
Let me know or send a PM
CHEERS :)

I am guessing ITS has better things to do with its margins than hiring lawyers to squash a pirate.

In the end, I stopped my Golden Tee business because it was too much of a headache. My last GT complete sold for $1000 WITH a newly rebuilt D9400. In 2008 up through when CAPTAIN PINBALL started his offer, they were going for $1300-1500.

And I used captain pinball 3 times.... 2/3 were nightmares. One worked perfectly, arrived quickly and had all the right parts. The other two were ridiculous. (sent back a green board for a red board and on the last one, sent me back a hacked up (volume controls and test sw never worked) board for a HUO SPOTLESS 2003 redboard.

Just beware too, Greg has a very short fuse.

I sent my 2002 GT HD and Board to be upgraded to a GT Complete on 1/15/10. I received the Board, HD, and complete marquee today 1/30/10, hooked it up and works great.

2002 GT Board shipped to MI $16.00
2002 GT Board upgraded to GT Complete $250.00
Getting my ass handed to me by my 10 year old playing GT
Priceless!!

I guess the only complaint I would have is that several e-mails were not returned.

FORE!!

Here's a question: If you had a Golden Tee 99, what would you do to it in terms of upgrading?

golden tee 99 can only go up to the supreme tourney edition which is just before the fore series boardwise. you can use the cab and just goto a golden tee for pcb, hard drive and power supply setup.

On a side note im thinking mr pinball has been able to jtag the board. there is 2 jtag spots on the board and has probably read the chip and updated it by hand. someone else has cracked the security chip and is looking into hacking the cd to skip past the activation part where it calls ITS for the activation...wish i knew a programmer that could do that or the jtag part. i know how to jtag but i dont know what to use to read the chip..last time i jtaged anything was certain tv stuff lol
