Golden Tee Upgrade options...

I dont know how to do that, and you would have to know what the CD was doing and asking to accomplish it, I would guess if you knew that much you could just edit the CD.

I say again, I don't know much about programming. In theory, couldn't someone look at the programming of two GT completes, one that has already been authorized by IT and one that has not and see what the difference is. Then just tell the not working one to be more like the working one.

bumps

How difficult would it be to obtain/write a program for a computer that would do the same thing ITs computers would do when you dialed in? Just have the game dial to your home computer and let your computer authorize the upgrade rather than trying to hack the game. I don't know a whole lot about programming so ignore this if it sounds like a dumb idea.

I work at a wholesaler and we have lots of GTs with legit upgrade kits and would like to use them, but can't call the # (cause it's not there).
@sound: I was thinking the same thing. all it needs is an answer.....or have it not ask the question. I will open the image and check the disk's config file I bet it is just a true/false then hopefully re-save the new imagine and try burning one....might work, but seems too easy...will see

If you have legitimate kits you can send them into IT with your board and they will do the upgrade for a fee.

If they are unused GT Complete kits, I am a buyer of one or two and will test it out for you.

Unless you can read hex or machine language then it's going to be very difficult to even find where it makes the phone call. Also there is a CRC check that is done that will have to be removed , if the CRC doesn't match you get a CRC error. I ran I to this while trying to remove lines of code to see where it would hang up on boot, but it won't boot unless you replace those lines with an equal value of data due to the CRC check.

I'm interested in messing with all of this stuff. I have a Fore! board with a 2004 extra HD and security chip. If someone has any of the following, please let me know, and I will start experimenting:
Complete! hard drive CHD
Update CD Image
Security Chip for Complete! dump
Boot ROM dump

I think that will get me a head start. Theoretically, you can reverse engineer the phone call for updates, but I think at the same time, it would be better to focus on getting the game to ignore whatever it is looking for in hardware.

Well, I can sell you a protected security chip. And give you the CHD file(maybe, it may be too big), the boot rom file and Update CD for free.

Well, If you don't mind starting me off with the free junk first :p I guess PM me, and we will figure out a way to get the stuff to me.

I'd love to have a GT Complete also but the way this thread is going just shows why mame devs will NOT be allowing GT Fore! or newer to be run (for free) in mame....

I can upgrade any GT to Complete for 150.00 returned back to you and you dont need to source an unused kit.

Flash drives and boot chip can be bought off of ebay for less than $60.
Nice bump.
Yes, but that is not going to upgrade a GT 2001- 2005 to Complete.
This has been brought up a ton of times and has been confirmed what is exactly needed.
It requires a U61 soldered on chip with GT Complete code burned to it (since IT servers are no longer in service), U53 socketed GT Complete security chip, GT Complete hard drive or flash drive.
