Golden Tee Owners - Popularity?

I love playing GT. Its one of those games that has staying power in a home arcade. Everyone who comes over seems to know if from bars and restaurants. Its usually the first game they go to.

The problem with Golden Tee is that is is ONLY fun when you have people over. Once you play it by yourself a handful of times, it is simply tedious.

No doubt though ... it is the first thing people want to play when they come over.

"Holy Shit, dude ... you have a Golden Tee ... IN YOUR HOUSE!"

Ummmm ... yeah ... I'll get the beers.

I disagree with that. I play mine pretty regularly. I do find myself wanting the extra course of a Complete. I have a Fore 2005.

I would recommend adding World Class Bowling deluxe on a switcher. I have that setup, the women that come to my arcade seem to really like the bowling.

i do enjoy golden tee. if you haven't played the 2010 yet, i suggest finding it a bar close to you and playing it. $4 is steep for 18 holes but it is very fun. i would love to have a gt in my apartment. i don't know how i would feel about playing it by myself though. silverstrike and bags i play by myself at work all the time but we never have gt's around the shop to play at all. we have an 05 coming in this week so maybe ill try it out.

i also really like the new power putt. its a lot of fun as well. i am most definetely a bags/silverstrike person though. whats your highscores on these games?

That's a cool idea, man. I am planning on having a GT tourney after the first of the year. Maybe we will take some of the $$$ as a Hole In One prize.

IN the original I made 13 holes in one.
On my current 2003 fore I have 1 so far. But I have only had it for 2 months.

It all depends on the version. I personally got my cab for $300, but the monitor had issues and it cost me $135 to get it rebuilt. For $435 I was incredibly happy. If you can find a nice looking conversion (many of them look terrible), you should be able to get a Fore! series in the $400-$500 range.

I got mine for $250. 2003 fore version, red board. It's a conversion from a SFalpha 3 I think, but it looks like a golden tee.

this is what my cab looks like, but it's painted, newmarquee, dollar bill acceptor.

theres a 99 near me for 275. says monitor is good, is it worth it? can it be upgraded?

I know one owner had a golden tee inside a control panel that had everything in it and it was connected to a tv. That would be awesome, im guessing just a supergun with a trackball right?

Yeah, you just need to wire the backspin/flyby buttons for the Fore! series for the CP, and get a PCB/HD. I did that to my first GT cab. Not sure what the going rate for Fore series pcb/HDs are though?

I got my GTFore 2004 for $100. The power supply was shot and he didn't think the monitor worked.

Put a new HAPP power supply and trackball in, new control panel, and one tiny resistor fixed the monitor. T-moulding also replaced.

I upgraded to a GT Complete, and put in a med res monitor from a Daytona USA.

Definately a big hit when guests come over. Finally got my first hole in one the other night - only took several beers and a lucky bounce off a rock....umm, just like I planned.

I picked up a Golden Tee for cheap. Bought it because it had a good monitor so I was planning on keeping as a Golden Tee until something else needed a monitor. Then it would be gutted, smashed, set on fire, pissed on to put it out, then allowed to dry, and set on fire again.

But, oddly enough, when my mom's over, she plays the hell out of it. So... I guess I gotta keep it. She only plays that and MsPac... so I can't really get rid of it now since she's TERRIBLE at MsPac.

Personally, I hate the game (see the above destruction plans)... The only thing I can think of that's more boring than watching golf is playing it... the only thing (same category) that's more boring that playing it in real life, is playing a video game version of it.

I'm putting together a Cherry Master for her just so I can wean her off of Golden Tee and get back to being able to smash it.

Smash the fuck out of it William......smash it good. Be sure to invite me over when you do.
