I recently picked up an allegedly working (unconfirmed when I picked it up) GT Live 2012. It has a Matvision 3M25 monitor. When I got it home and powered it on, it beeped, fans came on, bill acceptor made it's short little whir. And the upper screen displayed the RGB bars with a message it was entering sleep mode.

The larger Matvision has neck glow, but no pic. I can't get it to play blind. Where should I start? I checked inside for the obvious disconnected plugs/wires/grounds, but everything seems OK.

The smallish PCB on the control panel/drawer/board has three green LEDs, and one red - neat the antenna connector.

Hook up a regular pc monitor and see if you get a picture. Could be anything from video card to a bad hard drive. Pop that computer open and reseat everything.

Tried the vid connector on small board (closest to the control panel), the blue vid connector on the "box" on the bottom, as well as the lower vid connector on the video card (also has a vid connector for upper monitor, but that seems to "work" as in it briefly says it's going to sleep. Should I try moving the vid card to an adjacent slot?

Thanks!

sounds like bad video card. are you able to get the game to play with the video missing? like let it boot up for awhile and then coin it up and press start. if the game plays it's probably not the hard drive. regardless if the hard drive worked or not you should see something.

I've been doing the computer thing for 24 years now and I'm only just now coming across ones where I have to reseat them to make them work... maybe it's that simple. lol. also, I don't work on GTs, so I don't know what you have there. pictures would help.

You, kind sir, are a genius....I removed the PC from the bottom (carefully labeling everything), fired up the air compressor, cleaned the big filter/screen in the front, blew out the fans, re-seated the video card (and memory stick), vacuumed out the bottom (need to go back and do a better job)

...oh, and the monitor isn't mounted very well, so I'm gonna fix that now.

THANKS!

...as for it not playing blind....well, that was just me being impatient, I forgot these Linux-based machines take a while.

Thanks! Re-seating did the trick. The previous owner probably had this in their garage, and they're right on the river (seriously...with the flooding issues here the river was mere yards from the house). Inside were a billion dead mosquitoes (they love the river)...so things were pretty messy inside. They said the trackball "wasn't registering" but it worked for me - possibly dirty optic boards, or worn rollers/bearings...or just needs a drop of some 3-in-1 in the bearings.... Thanks!!

Cool glad you got it working, Ditch that monitor and get a 28in Ben q from amazon for 180$ Take a router and notch out that inner board and the monitor will pop in and fill the space nicely.

I don't remember where I saw it on youtube, but I was able to clean up all the trackballs at work that weren't rusted out and destroyed (those just got rebuilds). you remove the rollers and take the bearings off, now stick the skinny part of the roller in a drill and run the roller in there inside scotch brite and it'll take the funk off the rollers. bearings get 3-in-1 oil. the trackball itself if it's still actually white you just soak in hot dish soap water for awhile and then dry it off probably with a microfiber towel.

I've been on many adventures the last 2 years, I think I got that right LOL. if you hunt around google you might find the video, it was a British dude if I recall.

Gumby510............do you have any pictures of the 28" monitor installed? How does it fit inside the bezel?

Quick brag on this machine...I got it free. The owner also had a Big Buck Hunter, but a younger collector showed up shortly after me, so I made a deal - he helped me load the GT, and I help him load the BB. Got the GT home, and the two sets of keys would not work on the bill acceptor, so I drilled that lock out....and found $73 inside!

Whoever put the new monitor in hacked the power cable. I counted 4 different bits of wire from 12" to 2"...wrapping each twisted connection with black electrical tape which is starting to peel. They even used lamp cord in one place, leaving the ground (there) disconnected. Nothing I can't fix and pretty-up today.

Thanks again!

You router out about an inch in and then back up the length of the monitor. You can make your own bezel. You can either paint the glass or make a bezel with foam board.
