Please forgive a stupid question. I have the Red Golden Tee 2005 board and I am close to being ready to put everything in a cabinet. I just acquired the electronic header but I am not sure how it hooks up power wise. I looked in my manual (PDF) but I am having a hard time reading the wiring schematic(blurry). The power plug has four wires; black, two oranges, and black again. If I am reading the chart right, the two orange wires are both 12 volt lines and of course the blacks are ground. So where is this plug going? The ATX power supply connectors are not set up that way. I am a bit confused. The Jamma connector does not supply power in this configuration...at least that's what I thought. Any assistance is appreciated.

I'm pretty sure there is a dedicated plug for it on the board. If I get the opportunity, I'll check mine.

The black-orange-orange-black plug will connect into another plug that is red-orange-orange-black. Trace this back to another plug that plugs into an available power plug from the ATX power supply.

The reds will come from the coin mech plug and the coin counter plug. This all is based on have an IT jamma harness. I think their have the extra plugs attached. Else you will have to tap into an ATX power connector directly.

Thanks

Thank you for replying,

Lacking the correct harness, I went ahead and patched into a free atx connector and it worked just fine. Now all I need is the correct cord to go from the board to the sign. The seller said that any phone line would do but that is obviously not the case. Thanks again!

I was told these only worked for the Tournament Play which is no longer supported. Does anyone know if you can program these things to talk crap?

Not as far as I know... Somebody on BYOAC was working on it, but not sure how far they got.
In offline mode, mine just scrolls through a few different sayings, like Golden Tee Fore! New Courses! and the most annoying one... Welcome To This Location.

On ITs forums, I was told there was no way to change that stuff or the location info on the board (mine says its in Connecticut) in offline mode.

There is no way at present to program the led signs. Just plug it in and what ever it scrolls you are stuck with. The board will have the data from it's last interaction with the it servers. Put it up for a while and when you have had enough lower the two brackets on the back of the cabinet and fold the sign down.

I was thinking about removing the guts from the header, and inserting my own programmable LED display.

Then I can make it say whatever I want.

Anyone ever try this?

I was thinking along the same lines myself. I have been watching e-bay for an affordable betabrite system to use. Good Luck with your endeavor.

A replacement was my initial plan as well. The ones I found were very expensive... Over $200 for the size the GT would need. That seemed like a bit much for a red only led setup.

That has been my experience as well so far. Most I have seen have been too small for what I wanted to do. The search continues...
