Golden Tee Fore Complete Red Board Stuck on Initializing

that is the red screen of death
u61 is the cure
the 2.09 rom is a no brainer to use
red1 is for red boards >otp<
sb4/5 are for green boards >otp<

Ok, Both redboards I have are 2.09 and RED1 on the chips. Was just wondering if before I desoldered the U61 from the GTboard, if testing the 2.09 and RED1 from the BBH board on the GT board might have a chance to fix the issue on the GT board?

I mean, it probably wouldn't hurt to test, since the chips are removable. I'm just not sure if someone before me may have fudged up the chips on the GT board by putting them in backwards before I got it.

please read this carefuly
red screen of death
exactley what u have there is caused by 1 thing only
u61=board serial # build dose not match the u53 security build # and s/w loaded
fix is to swap a gt-complete u61 to the donor board
not u15 not u26 but u61 period
what u have is a :red board: its u26 calls for a :red-1: chip not a sb4/5
but a red 1
u15 always calls for egale 2.09 period

Yes, I know that will get the game working on the new board I just bought, which is BBH. I was talking about the board with the original issue this thread is about, which was the GT Complete that gets stuck at the initialize screen in the first screen shot. I was wondering if swapping the known good 2.09 and RED1 onto that board might have a chance of working and getting it to load.

I plan to try this later anyways, since it is just swapping chips. If it works, great. When I don't have to desolder, and I can get new chips for the BBH board and make one of those. If it doesn't work, then I am not out anything, I'll desolder the U61 and swap it to the BBH board and have a working GT-Complete.

no
in 1 word
no
2.09 if it is already in the gt ? will not change jack
the otp >red1< sets configiration for the board..
here is the short path
board boots >led status2 blinks once/twice<
led status 1 blinks once
then both led status 1 and 2 blink 2-x more
then u note ide led blink's >might stay on for a short 15 sec count < >>mbr chk<<
then >otp is called for cfg file stack in its otp<
this stack could be 1 of 5 games gt-golf is only 1 of them
all it is doing is setting up the exlinix chip, and the frount end port >gun/track-ball etc<
so in short again no.
i personaly think your problem lyes in the exlinx chip
but hey i have seen starnger things

Just to follow up on this. I took the plunge and swapped the U61 from the original Complete board to the BBH board. Plugged everything back in and powered it up and I am now sitting at the attract screen, so it looks like it was a success. I don't have the cabinet here yet to fully test, but I am light years farther than I was.

Now to play around with the other board, since it's basically parts. might try to desolder the xilinx chip for fun....

i will offer a piece of advice
take it for what it is worth to u
them u2 chips are a pita to remove (without proper smd rework station)
i know i do enough of them
u can de-solder the legs and think u have it until u notice it is still planted rather tight ?
guess what that is a ground plane (under the chip)
