Hi there, I recently got a Golden Tee Complete Greenboard, wuhuu :)

But my problem is that it will not, boot up the game.

Video about the problem

I have read that it maybe can be a HDD problem, therefore I bought a new HDD from eBay and I had also tried with a HDD made of a CHD rip of the disk. The same error occurs.

Is it possible to get any error code out of the board?

Any help is much appreciated.

My Power Supply is a new one from gatorcade.com running on 230V (Europe/Denmark) and measured to be 5.10V (tried with 5.20V also with no luck)

Also tried to have the HDD powered by another source than the board, with no difference.

Is that clicking noise coming from the hard drive ?

No it's the camera getting focused pretty annoying actually. There is no special noise from the hard drive. For me it looks like its just about to load right ? And just restarts instead.

That's what I thought the noise was.

It could be a bad hard drive, but I'm thinking the video card may
be bad. There's that one point on the video where the machine resets,
the screen appears to break up before the reset. Usually it just goes
black.

I've seen GT's reboot as soon as the game graphics start up.

weird I havent seen a GT Fore boot without the modem installed, yours is missing.
The drive itself may not be imaged correctly, just becuase it found the three partitions doesnt mean they are correct.

I'm not sure how those golden tee's are as I've never had one but I was going to say my games in my midway cab would go to start and reboot. Found out the power supply was bad.

MY GT Fore green board for Complete and 2005 are power hungry, might just need a bump of power to get it to boot all the way.

Ya mine were low when it was doing that and couldn't get it high enough on the PS. Bought a new one got it where it needed and they all boot up now with no reboots. I don't know if that will fix it but worth looking at.

So I just received a GT complete (it says it's for use only in the UK, whatever), anyway, it gets ready to boot, tried to detect the modem then counts for about 90 seconds trying to connect to ITNET. When it realizes it can't then it resets and starts over.

I tried flipping dip switch 1 to get into operator mode to see if I could find any errors, etc., but it won't get me there.

When you say bump the power, what do you bump it to? When I do a quick test of the extra connector that's not being used, I get around 5.17 vdc

edit:
looking at page 11 of the manual it mentions something about a 40 pin cdrom connection, I do not have that.

Ok in the manual it also states to hold down the start button at power up and it will do a series of tests for you. Everytime I do this, I just get a blank screen. It powers up, the board is running, etc. Blank screen. Flip it off, and back on and it does the routine I explained before.

here are some pics-It shows that no modem is detected, shows the voltage level ok, then it goes into the attempt at connecting to ITNET-fails to do so, then restarts.

Sounds a lot like my error. But I don't get that IT Calling screen.

I also gets a BLACK screen when holding START.

What is printed on your Removable IC's/Security chips?

And what version is the game ?

Does it match the Harddrive that you has connected?

Have you tried to reinsert all the IC's, be careful with the legs when removed

No idea to all of those questions. I have this fucker installed in a cab that does NOT have easy access to the pcb.

Needless to say I purchased this tested and working 100%. And it was packaged (per my direction) like a pro.

yeah and I removed and reseated the 3 removable chips that are on there

possibly worth noting:

It does not go through the same routine every time. On occasion, it will just keep resetting before it gets going.

This cab does not have a test switch, and putting the dip switch into OPerator mode doesn't boot directly to operator screen. Should I install a quick test switch and try clicking it as soon as I power it on? Does that even matter if I do it that way? I assumed it wouldn't go into test mode until it was 100% ready to boot anyway.

power wise I have mine boot up at 5.3 volts

weird that you have Hardware Version 5, I think its supposed to be version 6 for Complete, but since you have have 5(maybe its version 5 UK) Im guessing its a green board. Ive never seen it try to automatically connect to ITNET unless the cdrom for the upgrade disc is installed .
Also not sure if you can use any Golden Tee Fore Complete Drive or if you need a UK version, but my first guess would be to buy a new drive and boot rom (you have boot version 2.01, the newest is 2.09)
I had a Canada only BBH board that only runs from a Canada version drive, the version is actually stored on the boardset itself, changing the harddrive and eprom wont give you a USA version. BUT I have sold people US versions of complete that worked in a "for use in SPAIN Only"version boards, so if you want to buy a GT Complete CF drive and boot rom from me you might get it up and working, if it doesnt work you can return it. Maybe the seller just saw that it booted to the ITNET screen and figured that meant it worked fine.

I've heard of people discussing the video card being bad, any chance that's relevant here? I have a GTfore 2002 100% working right next to me, does it use the same video card? Is that something I ought to switch and test if so?

isn't worth trying?

My experiance with old PCBs is "If it aint broke dont fix it" , but if you have the time go for it, all the green boards have compatible video cards, Ive seen at least 5 different versions.
