Golden Tee Clubhouse Edition

This will probably wind up costing you more money! After playing in MAME, I got hooked and bought a Golden Tee Fore. I'm not even into golf, but these are great games.

That's what I was already thinking...can I upgrade the board I have in the clubhouse edition to a full version?

I don't believe you can upgrade these. If you can shoot a picture of whatever board is in there that will help determine what you can do with it. The home versions are very limited.

Unfortunately I think you might be right R3LL1K. The board is very simple. I will make a video of it and the input connections tonight and post'em. For what I remember the board has a VGA input, DC input, reset and LED input,
Tracking ball input, 3 buttons input, and sound input. The video will detail it all, so we can determine what is capable of.
Thanks,

A regular Golden Tee has a JAMMA connector in addition to a power supply with PC style molex connectors. I think the setup in your machine is a similar setup to the All-In-One Jakks games, but with VGA instead of composite out.

to be honest the cab is kinda ugly, maybe throw a bigger monitor in then mame it for all versions of golden tee

I think games like these are what make the unaware public think the authentic "heavy duty" machines are worth a gold mine.

I remember seeing these selling at BigLots a few years ago for around $250ish if I remember correctly, didn't get to play one or see it out of the box to estimate it's structural integrity but it didn't look like it was built to get abused much and stand up, just my opinion of course, I'd get one for $75 if I didn't have a full sized upright as an option.

Cool buy! I'm not a huge GT fan, but for $75 it seems like a good buy. I wouldn't mind having one of those bartop classic games that came out a few years ago. The Neo Geo one is actually JAMMA wired.

I actually fancy the cabinet (compared to my older cab's). It was definitely worth $75. I googled it and found walmart selling it for $650 new. I have hooked it up to my 19" Dell monitor and the game looks great on it too. I stopped at the hardware store today and picked up some extra doo-dads for it. It is made of pre-fabricated partical board and has a solid base, so I think it will hold up well. As soon as I get home I will post the picture\video of the game board, so yall can tell what I can do with it.
Thanks guys,
Arcade Greg

Have you thought of adding a light behind the marquee?

That's also a pretty crazy price for Wal*Mart to sell them for. It doesn't seem like it's worth that much new....wonder how many they actually sold.

Man I had a Dell 21" monitor I recently got rid of. I tried giving it away but nobody wanted it. I would have kept it except I don't do the whole PC gaming thing anymore so my LCD monitors work just fine.

The problem with adding a marquee is that the place it would go is solid wood and can't be removed without destroying the top of the cabinet, so I think a marquee light is out of the question. I wish though. Also, either they are selling like hot cakes or they are discontinued, because both walmart and amazon are sold out. I don't think I would buy it for 650 even new, maybe 300 new (but I am also a cheap-o...lol)

Tonight I am going to look at replacing the 15" for the 19". The biggest problem I am going to have is space. It looks like the 15" is well fit into the cab, so the 19" is going to be a tight squeeze. Also, I will have to mod they existing cut-out to fit. If it will work, then I will take some photos and post. Keep yalls fingers crossed for me!

That sounds like a neat project. Keep us posted.

Hey All,
Below is a link to a new video I shot of the controls and game PCB. It's about a minute long and shows the game PCB and all of the inputs to the PCB. Let me know what or if I can change anything at all. Also, I measured carefully and found out that the 19" monitor I have will not fit. It is a CRT and is to big for the cabinet, but I am going to pick up a 15-19" flat screen to upgrade the mointor. I modded a plexi-glass cover for the current monitor controls to keep the neighborhood kids from messing it up. I hope there is a chance I can upgrade the game PCB. If you know how or have any ideas let me know.
Thanks everyone,
Arcade Greg
