Who's the expert on the old series standard res GT boards? I would like to understand these boards better.
I have a '95 and '99 that are double stack. And a '97 and 2k that are single boards.
My '99 has 4 roms marked '95, and 8 marked 2k.
Are the 4 roms base game code? Are the GROM graphics? What do SROMs do?
Are all the "old series" boards interchangeable? i.e. can I get two more single boards and transplant the roms from a double stack? If so, does it matter which board I get?
What is the function of the ITGF chip? Security? Are they ties to a specific rom set?
Is it possible to stack the data roms/ITGF from multiple years on one board, lift the Vcc leg, and bank select the roms by toggling Vcc to a given bank of chips? If so, that would make a great daughter board project.
Is it possible to expand the number of games by getting a larger set of games on a single set of roms? Does anyone make such an animal?
Thanks in advance for any insight you can offer. If there are threads on the topic that I have missed, please feel free to drop a link.
