Pardon me for not being a little more knowledgeable. I have dome a little research and it looks like the monitors might be interchangeable, but I am still not sure.

I have a Hard Drivin' compact and a Golden Tee 98 and I am wondering if I can change the monitors out. The Hard Drivin I have has a smoked board on the monitor and I am just not all that knowledgeable on monitors. Hopefully hanging out with you guys will help me out one day..

Any help would be appreciated!

If memory serves, Hard Drivin' compact uses a standard resolution monitor. I'm not sure what Golden Tee uses, but if they're both standard resolution, they're interchangeable. Figure out the make and model for both monitors and you'll get your answer.

According to the KLOV listing on both, Hard Drivin is medium res and Golden Tee is standard res.

That being said, no, they won't swap.

Is this what I am looking for?

KLOV shows the following:

Golden Tee 98 Monitor:
* Orientation: Horizontal
* Type: Raster: Standard Resolution
* CRT: Color

HardDrivin' Monitor:

* Orientation: Horizontal
* Type: Raster: Medium Resolution
* CRT: Color
* 25-inch monitor

Cockpit - EGA
Upright - CGA

I believe all Hard and Race Drivin' cockpits were medium resolution, Hard Drivin' compact/upright was standard.

Someone with more knowledge will chime in, I'm sure.

Yeah, guess the KLOV listing does say CGA for uprights, and that is standard res.

I guess in that case it could be.

The best thing to do? Get the model number off the monitor in your Hard Drivin and if it's a standard res monitor, it will install in to the GT no problem

When a screen or CRT is swapped out I would think that I would swap the whole chassis, yoke, tube etc (all) correct? Once again sorry, I am a novice.

I do however know to discharge the tube in case anyone wondered.

Thanks guys!

Yes, youd want to swap the whole monitor, not just the chassis, unless its the same model which is doubtful. But my question, why part out a GT? Just find out what kind of chassis your Hard Drivin' has and put a post on the wanted forums. Or ask someone to repair it.

You also realy need to find out if your Hard Drivin' is indeed Med. Res, because you cant swap if it is. IT didnt use Med. Res. for GT until the Fore! series.

I just bought both of these machines tonight for VERY cheap. Both are non working. The GT does absolutely nothing (looks like a train wreck inside). The wiring is all over the place. The Hard Drivin make sounds and appears to be playing, but no video. I have just pulled the crt from the GT because it was pretty taken apart already and had the same wires going to all the same places. I put it into the Hard Drivin and it just makes a very slight rhythmic sound every .5 seconds. It sounds like when you turn an older tube tv on.

hmmm

Are you sure the clicking is coming from your monitor?

It almost sounds almost like a coin counter.

At any rate... if you have a multi meter check for power going to the monitor, should be between 100-125 AC, depending on the specific monitor. I couldn't make out the model off the video, just that it's a Wells Gardner.

My troubleshooting is limited on these machines. I am just trying to diagnose the hardware the only way I know how. My plans are to get them both running if possible. I just hear that the hard drivin' sounds like it is playing so it is the easiest to diagnose at this point.

I am pretty sure the sound is coming from the monitor. It was making that sound in the golden tee 98 and is now making it in this machine. I verified I am getting 113 volts on both machines to the monitor.

Here is the model number that is on a sticker on the chassis of the monitor.

Wells Gardner WGE1972-H0GS39L

Thanks!

I can confirm that Hard Drivin compact/upright IS standard res.

The numbers you posted are for the tube, not the chassis. You probably have a WG K7000 series in the Hard Drivin'.

Take a pic of the chassis.

I cannot locate any numbers on the H D chassis. That does not look like an easy cabinet to get a monitor out of.
