Hello, i just bought this Golden Tee game and brought it home to the excitement of my kids. It worked pretty good when i went to look at it however, when i turned it on the game itself comes on but there is a small colored line in the middle of the screen. I tried all the adjustments but the screen will not come up. Any ideas? I moved it very carefully and know i didn't break anything. I did smell a little burning when i opened up the back but can not find any burnt wires. Thanks

Kevin

I did smell a very slight burning inside. Went away fairly quick. I then loooked at all the wires to see if anything shorted out. Being kinda a idiot when it comes to this, is it easy to find these things on the board? In asking around locally, someone put the fear of god into me when it comes to working with these. They are saying that even with it unplugged, it still holds a charge strong enough to raise the hair on your head or even kill you. No good. Thanks for your relplies.

Parts are easy to locate especially with a cap map and manual, both of which are available online. The tube can hold a charge but it is a more common problem with the older monitors. Where are you located? I am sure a local can help you out.

I live in University Place, just West of Tacoma, WA. A TV electrician would be more helpful than an actual electrician, correct?

Bill Masterman of Masterman Vending is near you. His phone number is in the book. He's got a monitor tech there. He runs a huge game route in the Tacoma area.

Well, you live very close to me (I live in Bremerton) but I am in Virginia until next year. I'd say you should contact Ken Layton (screen name on KLOV is kenlayton), he lives in Olympia and is a very accomplished (possibly the most accomplished) arcade technician.

Edit: Ken beat me to it...

As I mentioned to him in a PM, I have not seen nor worked on a Pentranic. I don't have any service information on them.

Rick at Nieman Displays designed some of the Pentranic stuff and I think he has schematics to most of their models.

I sent Rick an email yesterday and awaiting his feedback. I did find a guy out of Ft. Lewis who might be able to help. I just need someone to show up and run some tests to figure out what went wrong. Hopefully it is something simple. Hard to imagine something major goes bad a day after i buy it. Thanks
