I've got a Golden Tee 2k board with an audio issue. The sound comes out of the speakers but it is very very static sounding. The volume is adjusted in the test menu and the board does not have a volume pot. The sound will adjust up and down but remain full of static.

I have confirmed that there are NO issues at all in the cabinet itself by testing several other boards (including a Golden Tee 99) in the cabinet and there were no issues at all. I have verified that the power supply has the proper voltage (there is even a test in the settings menu for this Golden Tee board that says the voltage is either high, low, or OK, and this board says the voltage is OK. I have reseated all socket chips on the board and cleaned the legs of all socket chips on the board. I have checked for cold solder joints very very slow and meticulously and there are none. I have cleaned the card edge as well. Other than the static filled sound, the game functions perfectly normal. I have poked around the net in other threads and have read that one of the audio amp chips is a TDA7240A and has a heat sink attached to it. I have a spare Golden Tee 2K board and swapped the mentioned chip to the one with the audio problem with no change. I have also removed each socket chip one at a time and swapped them with the socket chips on the spare board and there was absolutely no change in the issue. I did this one at a time, and in section groups as well. Both the sound status and video status lights are blinking continuously while the game is on, and I believe that is proper operation.

Does any one know if there are any other audio amp chips or other chips on this board that I should be looking at? Is the issue something as stupid and simple as changing the coin battery on the board? It does work, as the settings are saved from day to day at power off. there is also another lithium battery chip in a socket, but I have swapped that with one from the other board with no change already.

Suggestions or direction anyone? I am at a loss right now.

Feel free to e-mail me at [email protected]. I will post all follow up and solutions if there are any for others to search for in the future as well.

Thanks in advance!
Kevin
