I am considering buying a golden tee fore! 2005. The seller says about a year ago, he turned it on and all he got was a thin horizontal line through middle of the monitor. He said he tried replacing the HDD to no avail.

Anyone have any thoughts or seen this before? I have no other information. I just don't want to buy a big problem.

Upside is that I would get the extra HDD.

The monitor has lost it's vertical deflection and needs to be rebuilt. Depending on the model, you're looing at between 20 bucks if you do it yourself, and 150 bucks if you send the chassis off to get repaired.

probably a bad R303 and D302, and maybe U601, if it has the normal monitor in there...

Well,
I thought it was just a monitor issue because the guy said it was paying blind, but now that I dig a little deeper, no, I haven't bought it yet, it's not booting at all.

Could the monitor be causing shut down, or is it a power supply problem? Just eating no sound at start, black screen, but one thin horizontal line though the middle.

I doubt this is something I want to buy for $300 at this point. Who knows what I'm buying.

It's possible the sound is turned off... also Golden Tee (if it's been turned off a while) checks the hard drive when it's turned back on sometimes, which can take up to 5 minutes.

More likely than that, though, is like as you say the power supply or the board has issues.

The monitor being flatlined can't have any effect on the gameboard or the power supply though, so you've probably got two things wrong (or more!).
