Hello,

I have a showcase cabinet w/ a 33" monitor that someone turned into a GT 2005. I have a working green board and hard drive (which was just tested in another KLOV'ers GT machine and confirmed working). When the board and HD are hooked up to my machine, the machine locates the hard drive...then freezes. I tried a different known working green board and the game got a little bit farther to the "locating system files"...then it would reset.

Any ideas? I have the power bypass cables hooked up and I cut the power wires on the JAMMA adapter. My cabinet has a standard switching power supply.

The trackball is grounded. Possibly another grounding issue?

TIA,

Brad

1) Why do you need a JAMMA adapter? GT's a JAMMA.

2) Not sure what you mean about the bypass, but do you have two power connectors plugged into the two 4-pin spots on the board?

3) Are you using an AT power supply or a switcher?

4) Why did you cut the power wires to the JAMMA adapter?

5) What is the +5 reading when the board is connected?

6) Can you hear the hard drive spin up when powered on?

Sorry, I meant JAMMA connector...NOT adapter.

2) Not sure what you mean about the bypass, but do you have two power connectors plugged into the two 4-pin spots on the board?

Yes, the two power connectors are plugged in to the main board.

3) Are you using an AT power supply or a switcher?

I'm pretty sure it is switching. It looks exactly like the attached picture, except mine is black.

4) Why did you cut the power wires to the JAMMA adapter?

I thought the power wires on the JAMMA connector were supposed to be cut since the board is already being powered through the bypass cables.

5) What is the +5 reading when the board is connected?

5.12 VDC

6) Can you hear the hard drive spin up when powered on?

Yes, the hard drive is spinning.

Hmm...maybe my power supply doesn't have the correct amp output?

My board requires 5 volts at 15 amps and 12 volts at 3 amps according to the manual. I'll double check the Amp rating on the power supply.

I'll look into this.

Thanks!

I always get frustrated when I find a post with the same issue I have and the person never posted the resolution. So here is the resolution:

The problem was the power supply. I had a switching power supply in the game, but when I replaced it with a replacement power supply from Happ (big silver box), the game worked perfectly.

does that power supply have a -12v output? i just re-wired my gt2005 so i may be able to help... what does your -12v read?

Hey Tinsley,

everything is working fine now, but I appreciate the offer to help! Sorry if my post was confusing.
